Talking Help me to setup a network like this?

    Hi Guys,

I am planning on buying a wireless router and I want to use it at two places home and college.

Regarding home setup I know the BSNL guy very well so he sets it up for me. But I am confused about setup in college.

My college gives me a LAN cable with a static IP something like 192.168.74.149.

Now I want to input that LAN cable into a wireless router and use it for Laptop, Android smartphone and a wired connection to Seagate Goflex Net which I will be using as a downloader + NAS.

I want the router to act as a DHCP server for the three devices mentioned above.

I have also made a pictorial representation of the connection to help you..

    See attachment

    Thanks in Advance..!

    (A)AT Home :

Give details of the BSNL broadband connection.
    The ADSL modem model number/make/number.
    NO wifi available now ???
Mention OS used.> Presume single laptop in use.

    In college:
My college gives me a LAN cable (*RJ45) with a static IP something like 192.168.74.149.
    depends on answer to (A)above.

just set the router in bridge mode(it may already be enabled by default) & almost all routers have dhcp enabled by default.you can simply take a look at the manual of your router(usually a pdf file on setup cd or get it from the website of manufacturer).

P.S.unless your college's main router/server has uPnP enabled you won't be able to use torrents for downloading.
Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent.
Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent.
Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?
