Default Need help about wiring until my DLink 802c

    HI,
I am new to this forum.

    I came looking for help.

MTNL cable copper twin wire ends in my house from junction box in building. THe wire comes to my house and ends in the living room in tubing which also contain electric wires of my living room. I can open the tubing an do any modifications.

Currently, the point where MTNL wire ends, cat 3 cable is hand twisted with 2 ends of MTNL main wire. Blue and REd of cat 3 with MTNL wire 1 and 2. other 2 white wires of cat 3 are left alone. NOw near my splitter is DP box which connects the other end of blue and red wire of same cat 3 wire to RJ11 phione cable whoch goes in splitter, and a normal phone cable from splitter to DLink 802C. I am posting my stats below in image.

    My questions are:

    1. Can I put RJ11 plug to cat3 wire?

    2. Which wires will i have to crimp in RJ11?. All 4 or only blue and red?

    3. Is it ok to crimp an RJ11 at the end of cat 3? or only phone cable is allowed for rj11?

    4. Does crimping wire with RJ jack an socket provide better connection ?(less noise and attenuation?) or it does not matter? (right now the first joint is handtwisted and rest are either through DP or RJ clip and socket)

    5. Why GLB 802C adsl socket has 4 pins whereas splitter has only 2 at outlet for adsl cable?

    6. Does the position of wire matter at opposite ends of wire in haveing RJ 11? i have crimping tool and am confused if the color should be same (green left and red right ? or it should opposite at opposite ends?

    7. is it better to crimp cat 3 wire rather than nprmal phone wire for my case?

my main concern is about joints.. even if i keep minimum joints how should they be? hand twisted or RJ jacked? i rad somewhere tha crimped wire joint worsen noise mor than hand twisting bare wire..

    Thanks

Your connection having minimum SNR ratio and Attn is high.
No change needed in modem /router.
    2.
Check all connections and use wires without joints.
and connect MTNL wires to a new rj11 junction box.
and use an ADSL splitter as shown.
All telephones AFTER the splitter to PHONE PORT.

    CRIMPING
crimping is ok provided the connector and wire ends
are not rusted/oxidised/having high resistance contacts.
a small portion of insulation is removed
    Use new wire and connectors

    5.
Four wires connector. RJ11 ? CHECKING.
    not clear which port ?

    NO PROBLEM.
Read all about the "CATS" here !
    PICTURES OF CABLE TYPES
    Twisting is important.
For each type of cable buy better cable bunched 2. 4 or 8 and crimp them.
rj11 rj14 rj45; If you use a pair from Rj45 for making a rj11 cable connection, improvement should be seen.
    hope this helps.

cat 3 has 4 wires.. you mean i should use only 2 of those 4 or ?

make 2 pairs of 2 wires of cat 3 and put into each socket of rj11? (because rj11 has 2 metal pins.. so u mean i should twist each pair and put it into each socket?

i am trying to represent it diagramatically here..

twisting each pair of cat3 and putting in each pin of rj11?

Instead of asking counter questions, better try something and then report not working working etc.
An ounce of practice is worth a ton of theory.!!
To connect two wires from exchange junction, to a modem so much of queries !!!
try something and then improve gradually.
    wires/connectors/modem settings/ computer settings etc.

    Check "MURPHY's laws !!!!
