We have BSNL Wifi at home for the PC and laptop. Need to move my PC away from router where the cable can't reach. Can i use my broadband internet USB stick as wireless adapter instead of buying the real one?

internet USB stick as wireless adapter ( *Access Point )
depends on the model Mention make/number
But cannot be used to connect to Internet for above method.
2.
mention model number make of ADSl modem/wifi router.
It is easier to use a longer Rj11 cable to connect the modem!!!
Phone Junction==>> Rj11== say 10 to 20 feet ===>>adsl splitter===>>> Modem/wifi router Rj45 =====>>DESKTOP/
Modem/wifi router ~~~~~ wifi to laptop.
Also mention OS used in Desktop /laptop.
Feedback.

Explain. What do you mean by BSNL WiFi ? BSNL Wimax or normal BSNL connection with WiFi modem ? Which plan do you use ? Mention modem - model and make.
Need to move my PC away from router where the cable can't reach.
Now you want to move desktop (without wireless adapter) to a place out of reach by cable ? How much distance from current position ? Up to 100 m, ethernet cable is possible.
Can i use my broadband internet USB stick as wireless adapter instead of buying the real one?
Give details, mention model and make. Is it something like USB data card in which you can insert 2G/3G SIM and use ? Or USB wireless internet like Tata Photon or Reliance Netconnect ?
You can get WiFi PCI card for your desktop for less than Rs. 500 and use WiFi in it. If you go for an USB WiFi adapter, it will cost around Rs. 1,000.
Thanks for the reply.
It's normal BSNL connection with WiFi modem.
Read that WiFi PCI card is better than USB. Could u please suggest a good brand of WiFi PCI card? Please give the link if possible, to buy online.
Also, how to use wireless in laptop without switching on the PC? I tried by keeping router and modem on, but not working. It's connecting but shows "no internet access". Guess the bsnl guy didn't make arrangement for that. Please help!
Thanks in Advance

Both PCI card and USB adapter are good. USB adapter is portable and hence has higher price tag. You can check ebay, letsbuy.com or Flipkart.com. Check the reviews there and decide. Or simply walk in to a shop nearby and get one.

@meetdilip
Sorry I'm new to the forums, so my posts are kinda incompleteThe link you provided is not working.
It's Iball Wireless-N Router (iB-WRX150N). One cable each from the PC and BSNL modem is connected to the yellow ports in the router.

No problem
Check the link now, corrected.

It seems you are using both modem and WiFi routers as separate units. Mention your modem's model and make too.

Thanks for the link. I configure the router in PPPoE mode. Now the problem is solved. Using internet successfully on laptop and mobile without switching on PC!
Thanks for the guidance.![]()
