Default Wifi router for ADSL Broadband.

    1)
The modem UT300R2U does not have wifi option.
    2)
Confirm your Desktop has a WLAN( wireless adaptor)
Desktop WLAN PCI card about Rs 1000/= approx.

IF yes : or Laptop with WLAN adapter (in mother board) or external
Advanced option: Application " Connectify" (*limited range )

    3)

You have to buy a WIFI router
Example Netgear WGR614V9( CostRs approx Rs 1400/=)
Choosing a Wireless Router - Tech Forum India
    Or
    4)
Type 2 Adsl mode+4Port+wifi router from BSNL, either on rent Rs 80/= or outright purchase cost Rs 2.200/=
Example : UTSTAR WA3002-G4 ( see sig link below )
Only wifi settings are required. Other settings SAME as UT300r2U
Chennai Telephones- Changing password in DataOne Pre-configured modem

    5) The SSID (name ) will appear in your wifi enabled cellphone, or other laptops In Range ( usually 20 to 40 feet radius *conditions apply!)

No problem. You are welcome to post again in this forum.
I tried to make the post as simple as possible with pictures etc.
for a new BB user without any experience.
The idea was to give some "exposure" .
It is up to the user to use the info provided. .

Easy method : Opt for BSNL wifi modem. They will set it up free for you.
Take the Phone also. Test in Broadband section of BSNL in your Exchange.

if your desktop the OS used is Windows 7, when you buy and insert a PCI wlan card , W7 may detect new hardware and install automatically the drivers etc.
or you can use the cd provided.

BSNL will not set up your computer, and even in your home they check the Broadband connection with their OWN laptop. ( a friendly employee may do it FREE ?)

Desktop working in wifi mode no advantage. can be used in laptop also.
may cost about Rs 1000/= to Rs 1500/=
