    Default D-Link DSL-2730U Problem

    Hello all,

    I recently brought a D-Link Wifi router after my Beetel 440TXI stopped working.

    I got it setup by my ISP, Airtel.

    But ever since I started using this modem, the range have decreased drastically. I can hardly use it outside my room.

    With Beetel it was not a problem. It used to work great.

    Also my Blackberry mobile is not able to detect the Wifi. I even changed the whole OS of my BB but still no luck.

    Can anyone please guide me into this problem?

    Option 1;
    Call AIRTEL CC and ask for replacement unit. for Beetel440TXI ask for Binatone wifi model, if available. ( YOU could have paid a Non refundable deposit of Rs 1000/= and no time limit is specified for exchange.
    The unit if supplied by AIRTEL still belongs to them )

    Option 2 :
    Check WA3002-G4 quick guide ( similar modem)
    DSL2730U is "Old wine in new Bottle " same as Beetel 450BXI!!

    Select MANAGEMENT menu and BACKUP present settings to
    say C:/MY Documents/Airtel router fresh setup
    .
    Then make the changes.
    Check in Wireless page full power is selected. Also try Ch 11 or Ch 6.

    You should connect in PPPoE Always on mode.
    ( userid/pw stored in WAN page of modem )

    If you see UpnP button enable it (usually in WAN page )

    Enable DHCP. give a range say 192.168.1.3 to 192.168.1.10.
    SAVE REBOOT wait two minutes for changes to take place.

    Check whether the SSID appears in your Blackberry phone.

    Option 3 :
    Para two;
    Beetel 440TXI stopped working.
    if you can access the units menu pages we can try to check it.

    Thanks for replying. Can you please let me know about the range problem. And is the dlink model not good?

    And Airtel saying that the TX440I has now adopted stopped.

    At least you should get a range ( radius about 30 feet in same level say ground floor through walls/doors etc ) Position the Unit at a higher height from the table , and near a window if possible.

    440TXI: No exchange ? Did you buy it outright from Airtel ?

    I didn't buy it from outside. Got it from Airtel....And the dlink router hardly works outside my room.

    If the Beetel440TXi was purchased within a year, Airtel, may replace it or give some other model in exchange.
    2.
    return the DSl2730U to the shop and get some other make in lieu.

    3.
