Default QoS Settings for Beetel 450TC1 router

    Hi,

I am using Beetel 450TC1 router with my MTNL Triband internet connection. The router is connected to my PC through an ethernet port. The other devices (laptops and cell phones) connect to the router through WiFi.

As I usually download movies through my PC (connected to ethernet) and it hogs a lot of bandwidth, I want to give my PC (or P2P applications) the lowest priority. Thus, when multiple devices are connected and the PC is downloading a huge file, the other users should not get a poor bandwidth/ speed.

I accessed the QoS settings page, but it has a lot of fields and I dont know the meaning of most of them. Does anyone know how can I achieve the goal mentioned above?

I am attaching the QoS settings page for reference for people who do not have such a router and don't know what the settings page looks like.

I tried searching for QoS settings help for Beetel 450TC1 on a lot of forums, but didn't find anything conclusive.

    Dear essbebe,

The link you have provided is for Netgear's QoS settings and the interface is far simper than Beetel's.

This was given as a guidance and you can fill up the columns, in your modem. application, IP address Port MAC address etc
Check from ipconfig /all mac address/es.
    Ignore Vlan settings.
Some guidance from a Help file given. see attachment.

Can you please check out the exact QoS page for Beetel 450TC1 (attached in 1st post of this thread) and let me know what should I fill up from top to bottom given what my requirement is (give low priority/ bandwidth to all machines connected on Ethernet ports).

The dropdown box Application has options like IGMP, DHCP, SNMP, DNS etc. I don't know what is to be filled here. Also, what are source and destination MAC addresses, Mask, IPP/DS Field etc.

    Requirement:
As I usually download movies through my PC (connected to ethernet) and it hogs a lot of bandwidth, I want to give my PC (or P2P applications) the lowest priority
    .

I am attaching the QoS settings page for reference for people who do not have such a router and don't know what the settings page looks like
    .

The screen shot in the QoS.rar file and the screenshot JPg I had posted in Post no5 are same
    http://www.indiabroadband.net/attach...screenshot.png
Also additional instructions as screenshot extracted from manual. given.

    Para two:
How can I fill up the details asked for ?
How do I know from where you download movies ?
How can I know the MAC address/es ? Port numbers ? Ip address /es?
You have not made even an attempt to fill up the page and post it here.

Post as screenshot JPG , filling up with whatever information you could understand.
How many users are there in the network ? What is your tariff plan and speed ?
    Feedback.

    Para two:
I have to access your System ( computer/ router settings to make the entries ).

    Dear essbebe,

    I have 2 requirements:
    1. Give the lowest priority to TCP and UDP Ports 23036 (as these are the ports which are open for downloading Torrents)
    2. Give low priority to all Ethernet ports (or 1 particular MAC address, lets call it MAC_Address1 for simplicity)

I download using Vuze from my PC (having the MAC address MAC_Address1) which is connected to an Ethernet Port. Requirement 1 ensures that if I'm surfing internet and downloading from Vuze from my PC, Vuze gets lower priority, consequently prioritising my browsing experience.

Requirement 2 ensures that devices that connect to the network through the wireless mode get higher priority.

Please let me know what specific information you need to be able to help me set up my QoS settings based on the above 2 requirements.

The screenshot of manual provided by you gives a 1-line description of some items in my router's QoS settings page and does not go into specifics.

The reason I've not filled the page is that I don't know the very 1st option that I'm asked on the page: application (IGMP, SNMP, DNS, DHCP etc.)

Regarding the number of users and the configuration you asked: there is 1 user always connected through the ethernet port (my PC as described above) and nearly 7 devices connect to the router through wi-fi.

You can tell me what entries are to be made keeping in mind the requirements stated at the beginning of this post and I'll make these entries myself and give feedback on whether or not they're effective.

    Thanks.

ifmay not work. the ISp has NOT implemented QOS, users settings may not work.
Also the speed of your connection, may also matterGive details.
With 8 systems laptops phones etc doubtful QOS for Vuze will be efffective.

    2.Test/Research this way;
    (a) When you are NOT using VUZE , take speed test readings from all
systems at the same time: here.
My Broadband Speed - Broadband Speed Tester. or a simple download test at
Optus Speed Test (600 KB) - Oz Broadband Speed Test
    (b)
Activate Netone connection and connect to your computer disabling BB.
and let others work on WIFI and report any improvement.
    ( required; 56K fax/voice modem usually available in a desktop. )

    3.
WEB search has yielded settings only for VOIP Skype applications.
( different modems ) > In this forum, no discussion, to my knowledge for past 4 years.

    4. Confirm. have you had done Port forwarding for VUZE,
if so, QOS may not be effective..

Expect/request other members to chip in with their suggestions.

    @ moderator
A reply with two speed test links only has gone for moderation.
please clear, removing any material felt objectionable.
This is not the first time, and even when BSNL MP link was given, my post goes for moderation.
I have to post some reply even a one liner first, and then EDIT to add links etc., missing many points.

    @c2b2:

Mention speed of your tariff plan.
Carry out speed test here. for all systems at same time
(Saving Post to give links only )
    Again EDIT:

Any other member familiar with Beetel450TCI and using VUZE may please post their suggestions for QOS settings.
