Post Change service provider of USB modem (Unlock USB CDMA modems)

I don't know if anybody is using a changed over internet from a service provider on a 2g/3g USB modem. I was fed up with Tata Photon because of their plans which are tooo costly. I own the Photon modem (Model: Huawei EC1216). I wish to use a normal simple 2g/GPRS plan from Tata or any other ISP. This modem has a inbuilt SIM slot so I thought it would be definitely possible change the service provider.
I quit using Tata photon because as of today(2012) it is a world of unlimited internet and their minimum unlimited plan is of Rs 400 and that too till 1Gb and then it gives poor speed. 1GB is negligent amount of data as compared to other service providers. So I wish to use either cheaper unlimited plans or a slow but cheaper internet solution.
Any of you having any ideas on how to unlock this modem or port to another ISP ?

Tata Photon is a CDMA service. The modem does not supports GSM sim. So you cannot use any 2G/3G Operator With the photon modem. However you can unlock your modem and use other CDMA providers SIM. Try googling the term unlocking tata photon modem..

Yeah, I am aware about CDMA/GSM and have googled about unlocking procedure, but before doing that, I want to know whether anybody has switched to other service provider and the process how other provider accepts the unlocked modem.
There is also a SIM slot, whether any CDMA SIM can work as internet source?
