D-Link DSL2750U connects to 3G dongle made by the d-link only. This you can check from the sales package of the dsl 2750u modem/router.

Check the manual for step by step instructions : -
    ftp://support.dlink.co.in/broadband/...al_IN_1.00.pdf

For reliance broadband, in PPPoE settings use VPI=0, VCI=35.
Use the broadband username & password as provided by the ISP.

Well u should get decent strength of wi-fi signal...if possible try to position it at a central location in your house, place it at a decent height & keep the antenna upright.

I see many people asking about range of different routers in different threads. The signal strength is something that is governed by law and every router you see in the market will have more or less similar signal strength and range. The key to getting good coverage is to place your router right in the middle of the property and if there is still an area that is not getting enough strength then get a repeater to cover those areas.

If its at the edge, a simple, cost-effective but ugly solution would be to use an aluminium foil as reflector, adjust suitably to get the best range possible.

I have successfully configured dlink dsl 2750u with my desktop, both connected with RJ45 & reliance broadband working absolute fine. I am getting low range abt 15/20 ft only so please could u please suggest me either PCI or USB compatible wireless Adapter with model no so i can move router in central passage and get satisfactory range. does 150n is fine or should i look for 300n.

Also please guide me do i have to buy another additional 3g USB, if i opt for 3g service in future or this wireless adepter works as 2 in 1.

Hi Sanman thanks for the reply. I have just configured it using d-link supports help and its working fine. Range too is ok. Any idea how do I use a 3g usb modem with it like tata photon ? And what would a N150 wireless adapter do ? I mean would it act as a repeater or just as a wifi adapter for your desktop ??

I have not configured 3g and usb options, i am just using this router for desktop and android mobiles to access broadband.

N150 USB wireless adapter (TP LINK 150 Mbps TL-WN721N) i was thinking to connect with desktop to make desktop wi-fi else i can buy internal PCI adapter. Router is connected with RJ45 cable at the movement on edge of room which i like to move to center passage area. . I am getting range of abt 20 feet hardly.

I don't want to spent on repeater else that's perfect solution to extend range.

Very few routers support 3g alongwith ADSL.Netgear DGN 2200M is one such router.

Some one sent me a PM asking the following qustions about D-link wifi DSL-2750U

    :

    1. Is it possible to configure for reliance *ADSL* wired BB? (Have you done it for yourself?)

I used this modem with Mtnl broadband which is also ADSL technology and I dont see any reason why it wont work with Reliance or Airtel. If you check out the reiews at Flipkart you would notice people are using this peice with Reliance and Airtel aswell.

    2. Can we use multiple devices(like smartphone, laptop,TV) *simultaneously* over Wi-fi?

Yes thats the whole point of this device. It has a built in modem and router. Modem connects with the internet and wifi router enables you to connect multiple devices wirelessly. I have been using my laptop, Desktop and mobile phone all at once without any trouble.

    3. If yes for 1 and 2 above, can you provide me the procedure to do so? (I can manually configure at 192.168.1.1 if you help me out with the procedure)

The procedure is very straight farward. I will try to create a new thread with step by step config screen shots. You can also search on Google to see if someone has already done that. The manual is not that helpful and the installation CD didint work for me so I didi it manually but its easy stuff.

    4. Is the modem reliable and trustworthy to buy?

I did not have any trouble with it so for me its been good for me. I checked reviews on the net before I placed an order on flipkart and reviews seemed to be mostly in favor.

I had the doubt about questions 1 and 2 because of the reason that reliance is using user log in system in order to use internet unlike other ISPs in india...I found out that a modem should support "MER" in order to configure for reliance BB.

If anyone successfully used this modem for reliance then please post your comments. Thank you.

Sanman seems to have nailed it : http://www.indiabroadband.net/broadb...tml#post370186

I tried searching on google as well but cant find much. Have you tried Reliance customer support about which modems they use to be on the safe side? If they supply a modem with built in wifi router I would say thats the best option even if it costs a couple of hundred more because they wont be able to say that you have your own modem and we are doing everything right at our end if one day your connection gives up on you. Reliance customer support is not the best I have dealt with so dont have many good things to say about them myself.

One peice of advise before you by this modem. You can only use Dlink data cards with this if you ever decided to use a 3g dongle so I guess it would be worth you while to look for one that takes every dongle instead so you could use whatever you want without any restrictions.

As far as I know, Reliance does not provide Wifi modem or customer support regarding Wifi. Anyways thanks for your help I will get back to the thread once after I try configuring...
