Rep Power: 12 | @nithin.yes probably you want info about this. Quote:
Could you not get help in other threads started/visited by you on same subject ? short sms type messages will not get proper response here. Say clearly what you want/need What you tried and where you are stuck. Give details of modem applications etc. | |

| Platinum Member | of course it is!for your modem i think you have to use the modem in DMZ mode but this will mean all net traffic will be coming directly to your PC on all ports so install a good firewall before doing this. |

Rep Power: 0 | First of all I'll provide a few details and then explain the problem. Internet: BSNL Broadband Plan: Home 1350 UL Bandwidth: 512 kbps Modem: Nokia Siemens Residential Router 1600 The problem: Earlier I used a Type 1 modem and although I downloaded movies using Bit Torrent, I never bothered to learn much about torrents as I was getting a dl speed of 50-70 KBps. However, recently I switched to this new modem because I need wireless connection for my laptop. Since then I've been facing a dl speed problem. --Firstly, I get this warning on U/Bit Torrent: Not Connectable. A Firewall/Router is limiting your network traffic. You need to open up a port. Sometimes, the light is green, sometimes it's yellow, and sometimes it's red. --Secondly, the green/yellow/red lights don't determine the speed. The speed is its usual self under green/yellow/red lights. And it becomes very low even under green light. --Thirdly, I made sure that this not happening for a particular torrent. So, I'm getting a 50-70 KBps speed on one torrent and 5-6 KBps speed on another(with 25-30 seeds). I have no clue as to why the speed is differing. --Fourthly, I have already read a number of guides for port forwarding, but they usually explain it for different modems. I am completely lost and totally beat. --Fifthly, I've searched the internet for the modem I'm using(Nokia Siemens Residential Router 1600) and came up with nothing. I hope I'm stating the model name correctly because that's what it says on the box. I've tried a number of forums and most of them talk about Nokia Siemens C 2110. --Lastly, I'm really confused and need help. I'll be obliged if someone can point me in the right direction. Thank you. |

Rep Power: 0 | I tried it but I can't see any of those options for my DSL Router. Perhaps my modem being Nokia Siemens 1600, there are some changes. Also, I must add one thing: The speed for torrents is varying. Sometimes it's normal that is 50-70 KBps, and at other times it's 5-6 or 10-12 KBps. |

Rep Power: 1 | Torrent speed depends on a lot of factors. Mainly on seeds and their speed. If you are getting 50 -70 occasionally, your connection is good. |

Rep Power: 0 | But, earlier I got 50-70 all the time, and not just occasionally. And with 15-20 seeds what speed should I expect? I was getting 5-9 KBps. |

HI guys!! first of thanx for such a nice forum !!! i recently came across this and the site is really useful... now my coming to my problem... my router is UT300R2U my net connection is BSNL HOME 500C... i was manually dialing my broadband connection each time to get the internet connection in my laptop.. I was using BitTorrent client for downloads... i was having very good download speeds of 200+kbps... But i got a problem recently... I had problem with the manual dialling for internet connection.. each time there was some problem and i had dial many times(for 15~20 minutes) before connecting to internet. also the internet connection got cut sometimes... this problem was there for 2 months.. after this a BSNL jto came recently and changed some router settings... NOW, the problem is solved... now the internet connection starts automatically after i switch on the router... BUT THE PROBLEM NOW IS I AM GETTING REDUCED SPEEDS IN MY Bit TORRENT. there is a YELLOW WARNING ICON at the bottom of the torrent saying that "NO INCOMING CONNECTIONS" i tried doing things mentioned in this thread.. but still im not able to solve my problem... my router page is not having any VIRTUAL SERVER tab as told in this thread.. the router pagee has only options like>>> Device Info Summary WAN Statistics Route ARP DHCP Advanced Setup Diagnostics Management So PLZ HELP ME OUT GUYS!!! How do i change my port forward settings?? How CAN I GET BACK FULL SPPED IN TORRENTS?? What should i do now?? Last edited by bresourceful; 10-08-09 at 09:35 AM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost |
