Default How to set TCP/IP settings

A simple step by step guide for setting your TCP/IP settings.

    Where to Start?

    • From the ‘Start’ menu, select ‘Control Panel’
    • From the Control Panel, select ‘Network and Internet Connections’ (as shown below):

    • From the ‘Network and Internet Connections’, select ‘Network Connections’ (as shown below):

    • From ‘Network Connections’, right click on ‘Local Area Connection’ and click on ‘Properties’ (as shown below):

    • From the ‘Local Area Connection Properties’, select ‘Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)’, and click on ‘Properties’ button (as shown below):

Automatic Settings – Recommended for most people

From the ‘Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties’, click on the radio buttons:

    • Obtain an IP Address automatically
    • Obtain DNS Server Address automatically

      Click on OK button.

Manual (Static) Settings – Recommended for Port Forwarding

Manual or static IP settings are recommended when you wish to port forward. You must take the following care while setting static IP to your machines:

    • The IP must be part of the router’s subnet. For example, if the router’s IP address is 192.168.1.1 then its subnet is 192.168.1.2 to 192.168.1.255
    • If you have multiple machines in your network, you should make sure that IP address are not duplicate. A network cannot have duplicate IP addresses.
    • Even if you are setting static IP addresses, it is better to have DHCP=ON in your router settings. This way, if you connect a new machine to the network, it gets an IP address automatically.
    • And finally … your static IP is your internal IP that is local to your network. The outside world does not see this as a static IP.

    IP Address

    Three things are required:

    • IP Address: IP address is what you choose. It can be any as explained earlier.
    • Subnet Mask: It is usually 255.255.255.0
    • Default Gateway: This is the IP address of the router.

    DNS Settings

    You could leave them blank.
    OR
You could also use Open DNS settings for better http or address resolutions. Open DNS will resolve domain names faster than most ISP owned DNS and hence you will get slightly better speeds, especially during first time page loads.

The open DNS IP addresses are:

    • 208.67.222.222 (resolver1.opendns.com)
    • 208.67.220.220 (resolver2.opendns.com)

    Set them as follows:

Do not use any download Manager to download the file.
That could be the problem.D/L managers report file is corrupt.

I am note sure that the wireless router will have that kind of a strength. 100 m away means a diameter of 200 m. You will need an industrial strength wireless antenna for this purpose.

For a wireless link with Two Wifi routers, for a distance of 100 meters
    in ONE direction
both must have AP mode and use the same SSID .
Then as mentioned above, you have to mount the Units
at a greater height and orient the antennae in " LINE of Sight"
mode. ( no obstructions Tall buildings towers etc )
    and use addition antennae.
    1.
    Try this test :
    with A cordless Phone ( 900MHz or 2.4 GHz type )
try to page the base station. from other location.
    2.
Give the Power output of both units and whether they are
    Dual Antenna type.

    Feedback.
There is thread "1 Km wifi Range" in this forum !!!!!
    you may see that also.
    3.
along with PC in the area
Not clear. DO You intend to use a laptop computer
around an area radius of 100 Meters in mobile mode ?
