Lightbulb Setup of UT-300R2 with Linksys WRT54G

This is the same guide that was posted in the BSNL forum.

With the creation of this sub-forum, I have recreated the thread here. Please post all comments on this thread from now on.

Whereas the guide mentions BSNL at many places, it can be substituted for any telephony based broadband ISP's details.

Please note that VPI and VCI values will change for every ISP.

    1. Values for BSNL: VPI = 0, VCI = 35
    2. Values for MTNL: VPI = 0, VCI = 32

@Other folks, please post VPI/VCI values for your ISP. Many thanks.

For the guide, visit here: http://www.indiabroadband.net/bsnl-b....html#post9305 (Setup of ADSL Modem/Router UT-300R2U with Linksys Wireless Router WRT54G)

    Default Great Site, Thanks..

Hi Admin & All.. This site is very useful particulary this thread for me. Thanks a lot for posting useful information. Keep up the good work.

btw, I have BSNL chennai dataone connection with UT300R2U modem. I just bought LINKSYS WRT54GC wireless router from UK and tried to connect wirelessly. Had few problems but now successfully able to connect wirelessly after seeing the info from this forum.
Although I didn't exactly follow the doc, i just managed to connect wirelessly just by connecting the LAN cable from BSNL modem to one of the 4 ports in linksys router (as opposed to Internet port which normally everyone tries to connect and it fails).

Now I'm able to hook me laptop,iPod Touch & W960i seamlessly over wifi.:w00t:

    Thanks a lot guys..

What do you guys think of having an .odt (openoffice enabled guide) of the same. Also something which can work on GNU/Linux on the same. That would be cool.

    Hi,

@just4kix - I'm unable to download your guide (.rar) titled -

'Setup of ADSL Modem/Router UT-300R2U with Linksys Wireless Router WRT54G'.

    Reason? - insufficient privileges

Can you Please re-post it in this thread?

    It will be much appreciated!

    Thanks.

@Pistol0, Have you activated your account by clicking on the link sent to you on your email id? If not, please do so.

If you have already activated your account, try turning off the download managers such as IDM or DAP and then retrying.

    Please post your results.

^^ I tried both the links that were sent to my mail, but I keep getting 'page not available'.

All Download Managers / Pop-up blockers etc are OFF.

Firstly, a Big Thank You to Parminder for 'Manually' Activating my account!

    ___________________________________________

For the sake of this thread lets call -

    UT-300R2U = modem

    Linksys WRT54GL = router

    -------------------------------------------

In my case, I was unable to setup the modem in Bridge mode.

My MTNL Triband modem does not have a 'Wizard' either.

So I tried something a little different -

First connect only the modem via usb.

    1) In the Advanced Setup LAN Settings, I changed the THIRD Octet from 1 to 2 (since the wi-fi router did not allow this).

    2) Clicking on 'Save' then changes the Start and End IP Addresses automatically.

    2) Ensure DHCP Server is Enabled then Click on 'Save/Reboot'.

Notice that the modem's IP Address has changed from 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.2.1

    i180.photobucket.com/albums/x34/Lakshya_Vedh/wi-fi_2.jpg

    ------------------------------------------

Now connect the router via ethernet (as described in the guide).

    1) Typing 192.168.1.1 in the browser will take you to the router's 'Basic Setup' page.

    Now here's what I did different -

    2) Instead of selecting PPPoE, I chose DHCP. 'Save' the settings (Yes 'DHCP Server' is left Enabled in BOTH modem and router).

    3) 'Secure' your wireless network as per the guide. DO NOT leave your network unprotected!

    4) Check the Status, you should be able to see the IP Address, Subnet Mask, Default Gateway etc.

    i180.photobucket.com/albums/x34/Lakshya_Vedh/wi-fi_3.jpg

    And Finally,

Default Linksys WAG200G configuration with TATA broadband 256

I was nerd in these setups until yesterday. Today i learnt a lot going thru the docs.
Documents posted are excellent. Though my router Linksys WAG200G looks bit different i will try following the steps.

By any chance do you have similar step by step document on setting up Linksys WAG200G with TATA broadband postpaid 256 with static IP.
    Thanks in advance.
you can also send it to anand_bangin@yahoo.co.in

    Default Linksys WAg200G ADSl modem+wifrouter.

    @anand_icsi

Please mention modem supplied by tataindicom.

You can use the linksys unit directly, by
connecting the RJ11 from the ADSl splitter
    to this unit.
