    Default Low Speed Problems

    Hi!

I have BSNL Home 750 UL Plan.

The problem that I am facing is very low SNR values ~ 7 dB downstream. I want to ask you whether this might be because of the arrrangement of the phones in the house?

At the moment, in the living room there is a phone jack to which one of the phones are connected. In another room, the building guys have provided a jack for the same connection. To this, the splitter is connected which goes to a handset at one end and to the modem through the other.

On picking up the phone there is a lot of noise when the internet is connected.

Is this arrangement faulty? Please advise on how to connect the phone correctly for the broadband to improve.

Please read the "Basic Broadband Guide" and the "SOHO Guide".

A very common mistake, committed you have. <- Yoda Speak.

The inline splitter/filter must be placed at the very beginning of everything. Any phone lines must be connected to a handset only after it has gone through the splitter/filter first, else the basic purpose of using a splitter/filter is negated.

This is a common filter used for ADSL connections:-

    Standard ADSL Filter functioning:-

Now if you connect the phone line to the handset before using the filter then the purpose of the filter is useless, you will hear weird screeching noises and suffer from disconnection each time you make/receive a phone call.

If you have concealed wiring at your home then fixing this problem will be quite a pain, but I can provide a way to split the line without much difficulty.

although u've concealed wiring u can still avoid interference.
Please remove d phone u've connected in living room.
Take it to the room where u've installed splitter and connect it to output RJ11 female phone port of ur splitter. Now u r @ liberty to take phone wherever u want.
If u want phone in ur living room, try cordless phone with extra base telephone attached.
With this u can enjoy ur telephone calls in both d rooms.
I m talking abt cordless model which has keypad on base stn as well on cordless.

ya it sounds like wrong physical setup of broadband.. you can try to connect your BB and Phone on one socket only and remove all extentions... then see if there is any disturbance on line or not.. if still there is disturbance then try to change your splitter... and if nothing helps then you can call your ISP for line test..

Definitely faulty phone system setup. Check the broadband manual or call support.
