    Question URGENT! Suggest a ISP

    Hi,

I stay in Goregaon,Mumbai. I work online & its not the data entry or form filling kind of CRP. I work online for a company in Canada providing Remote Support for their Servers. I have to be online atleast 6 hours a day. Troubleshoot Server & Security Issues in MSSQL, CRM, ISA, Exchange mostly on all Microsoft related technologies.

I have been working online like this for 2 months now,i work from evening 5pm to midnight, I have MTNL's 849NU plan. my Jan bill was Rs. 2400/- including the telephone rent. My Feb bill is Rs. 2900/-, I don't want to change this plan as I have a elder brother who wants this plan to download movies & stuff. I too download Games & movies etc. So changing this plan to 1Mbps is not an option as that will decrease the downloads, also changing the plan to 2Mpbs unlimited will be too costly the monthly bill would go to Rs. 4680/- something including taxes & rent

So i really need a good plan with atleast enough speed so that i can run my Remote desktop tools & work
I think 1Mbps would be the minimum required for working on remote desktop. So please suggest me a good ISP

The whole point of having a new internet connection is to have 24/7 online avalibility option. EVDO is too costly for that 6000 for 2.4mbps unlimited? I don't see any 1mbps unlimited plan on BSNL's website

Tata Photon+ wont be a good option as i have had network issues with such devices in the past where it was getting any network coverage in the room where my computer is.

Yes, I've used Tata photon, Reliance Netconnect & Airtel Gprs one < don't remember the name. That time I had a laptop so I had to sit in the living room to get it working. it wasn't just tata photon but all the 3 devices. Now i have a Desktop & cannot carry it around weighs more that 20kgs.

    bsnl.co.in/service/bbtariff/unlimitedhome.htm i dont see any 1mbps offers

I think it costs around Rs. 1800.
Call customer care or ask the nearest BSNL`s centre.......

1800/- for 1mbps? so why not go for 1mbps from MTNL for 999/- by taking a new line.

I forgot to mention that, in my area there are no empty sockets left to add new lines so if i do apply for MTNL i have to get a line from another area & the linemen say that it will break if any heavy vehicle passes on the road as that wire would be hanging. Something what he said but I don't know if he only said because he wants money.

I will keep this MTNL as the last option to go for if I don't find any other ISP with 1MBPS @ 1200 +/- as if we calculate the installation, rent & taxes it will come to 1200 for the 1MBPS plan of mtnl

I think Airtel has better plans. It may not be cheaper but ofcourse better. And it may fit in your pocket too. Please check.

FUP means Fair Usage Policy. Your speed will become half once you cross the FUP limit. Say a plan has 8 GB limit @ 1 Mbps. After you cross 8 GB, your speed will reduce to 512 Kbps.
