No 3G in Bhimtal. Only EDGE. I am not very frequent visitor to Bhimtal though just 15 kms from my place.. So i dont know that at this moment, which is the best player. BSNL is the best at all places, but IDEA, and AIRTEL are also good.

and please for God's sake dont buy voda.. they sk..

and reliance cdma doesnt work in all hills..

Hi Mickey! Thanks a lot for your reply. BSNL is good, but it's not available in Delhi and I have no idea how and where I can get it when I reach Bhimtal. I am planning to get Reliance Netconect+ or Tata Photon+ . Any advise?

Reliance internet through cdma mobile(cdmax 144kbps) will work in Bhimtal.. No tata photon(quite sure) and possibly not photon+

best connection is using BSNL sim, in Uttarakhand, bsnl has good 2G plans. You will get 3G in Nainital and Haldwani city..

If you get down at Haldwani by Train or Bus station(which are both at walking distance to each other) you will get BSNL exchange in the Bus station campus.
If you get down at Kathgodam railways you should move out to the main road (Nainital rd) where you will get bsnl sim connection at the chowraha.

if you are going through taxi/own conveyence , ask your driver to take you to Haldwani bus stand(Haldwani's bus stand is on main road-way to both Nainital and Bhimtal) and ask anyone or you will see the bsnl's miniature tower there inside the bus stand..

can i know which phone you are using, ? is it modem'able? if yes , bsnl is the best ..

I guess i have written all the basic things here..

pm me if confusions still arise..

Cant understand whether you would be staying only in Bhimtal?? or you would also see/stay other places as well.. because one stick is sufficient.. so why in the world you will be carrying bulky two-three sticks more..
about mobile: i meant that just like using usb stick as the medium for internet access, you use use your mobile phone..
purchasing so many sticks isnt good idea, when you have to stick with only bsnl..
you are not going to achieve more than 100kbps even in heaven's condition.. because 3G is not yet installed..
