Default Perhaps it time to gauge the ISPs , without personal passion

I am, of the opinion, after studying many many posts,
that we need to know an objective , scientific and specific comments on performance of various ISPs, It really helps a new customer to decide whom to approach.

I do understand that it changes depending on quality of local lead, and or distance of customer from service provider.
there are other parameters like clock sync of various isp's routers , w.r.t., to their media that reaches main centers for further processing.

If, once we are able to make a unbiased scientific study, perhaps the forum can approach regulatory bodies for improvement.

    My review of BSNL

    Pros :

    1. Good penetration.

    2. Economical plans.

    3. Night unlimited at 2 Mbps.

    Cons:

    1. Poor customer care. Service quality vary from exchange to exchange.

    2. Reliance has better plans for lesser price.

    3. Rainy season is a horrible experience.

    4. May not get promised speed.

    My experience with mtnl:
    pros:cheap plans
    no fup
    good service till breakdown
good speed(although it depends on distance from exchange).
    cons:bad ping
bad customer service if ur connection breaks down its hell to get it repaired there's no coordination between the call centers and exchanges they only ask whether ur dsl is on or not,if its off they ask u to lodge a complaint on 198 rather than forwarding it themselves,to get a problem solved faster u have to visit the exchange.

    My experience with hathway:
    Pros :
    good ping
Good customer care, trained staff, problems if not solved are immediately forwarded to engineers
faster installation it takes less than 2 days to get a new connection
    cons:
    fup
    costlier plans
speeds not upto the mark like max speed in 512kbps plan will be 54 KBPS

Its a good example to show how a govt. sector differs from a private sector(More precisely between a DSL broadband service & Cable broadband service).
But still i think MTNL/BSNL is a better choice.
