You could try BSNL, they have unlimted plans. If you gave an indication of what your maximum cost for a month would be then an appropriate plan could be recommended.

Something for J4K to answer aswell, as he lives in Pune!!!!

hi, i can afford to spend anything between 1000 - 1500 rs for unlimited plan . Most of the plans comes with a fup limit of 10-15 GB. But since the usage goes above 30GB on monthly basis i am confused on taking the right plan.
One area which cant be compromised is Speed .

All unlimited plans for most ISPs come with an FUP.

I would suggest you to get a Bsnl evdo data card with Rs750 a month unlimited plan which would give you speeds upto 3.1mbps and a very good upload speed. From what I know they dont have any FUP. You could get a 256kbps or 512 kind of plan with tataindicom for browsing purposes keeping the grand total way less then Rs1500 and this way you would always have a plan B in case one of the connections decides to take a day off

Data card wont be the best option for me as i have multiple pcs at home which are interconnected through a router with a single internet connection .
Also i have read that wireless router connections can result in less speeds and sometimes are prone to interruptions .
Hence will be considering only wired broadband.
As far as 4G option goes, i dont think there are any suited plans for my criterias.
if you guys find out a suitable plan ,pls advise.
    Monthly usage - 30 GB
FUP limit (min) - 20 GB
    Price/Budget - Close to 1500.

well , you broadband is out of the option as they don't have feasibility in my area (vishrantwadi, pune). So BSNL is the one i can consider .

Had a look at the below plan provided by tata indicom .Even though i had to cut down the speed criteria by half, data usage wise i guess its still a good plan

Unlimited Standalone Plans 5 Mbps Plan
    Monthly Rental (Rs.) 1,399
Download Speed (Up to) 10240 Kbps
Upload Speed (Up to) 256 Kbps
    FUP limit 40 GB
Post FUP download Speed (Up to ) 512 Kbps
Post FUP Upload Speed (Up to) 256 Kbps

Waiting for tata indicom to confirm the feasibility check in myarea.

well..with the minimal research i conducted online i cant find any reasonable 3G packs that would give 40 GB monthly usage.
Another reason for opting out of wireless router is due to its performance impacts and high chances of interruptions causing instability .
we have 3 machines at home located at different rooms and i have read that wireless router can be an issue when there is a seperation like wall or doors between the router and machine.

i have heard that bsnl has very slow speeds in the morning and night time, may be due to user load . Tata indicom is giving a 5 mbps plan but again will have to check the contention ratio as it can cause actual final speeds to be less than 1 mbps .

So i am skeptical now at the moment and will finalize after some more research.

Another option is to shift places and go to a place where you have a wide variety of isps to choose from.....

I know many providers get bad reviews but isn't reliance service bombarded with complaints in almost all forums . I don't have personal experience with their services but to be honest i am not so confident about their customer support and services as i have seen quite a few blogs with genuine complaints about their services.
May be i am judging them wrong from online reviews and actually it might be other way around .
Anyways will check out their plans and do a bit more enquiry about their service in my area.

True their are complaints about Reliance, but you cant guarantee how it will be for you. If it customer support then thatd the least that you need to think about, if its the speeds and stability of the connection then its something to worry about, if you dont have speed problems or stability problems then you wont need customer support.

Ask people near by what service provider they are using that would be the best way to get feedback.

I agree with Preeti, its best to ask people who live near by to what connection they are using and what their coverage is like, you can then take it from there.

Have you checked with ACT broadband if they are available in your area? Reviews say that they have very good plans.

Finally i have zeroed on tata docomo 2mbps unlimited plan with 30 GB FUP for 1399/- Rs. Tikona ,youbroadband etc have good plans but the problem is their limited coverage areas in pune. Only BSNL and TATA provides broadband services in my area and chose to skip BSNL due to the poor speed reviews given by other members in the society.

Not started yet. will be activated only after 3 days. They say around 1.8 Mbps upload speed and close to 256 kbps download speeds.

That does not sound right to me. 1.8mbps up and 256kbps download. May be the other way round.

Its definitely not the other way around and its because of the compression ratio applicable to downloads for broadband connection. In our case it is 1:8 which will end up providing only 256 kbps from the 2 Mbps connection . This is a fact which i am dealing with my current broadband connection too..

    That is not correct Nithin.

The contention ratio of 1:8 does not mean that your connection is capped at 256kbps.

For example if a 10Mbps connection is shared by 18 different consumers then the contention ratio would be 1:18. This means that you may get the full 10Mbps speed if no one else sharing your node is using the internet but at peak times it gets divided between all those who are online at the same time so at times when all 18 of them are online and trying to download at the same time then you would get 1/18th of that 10Mabps available.

Lower the contention ratio the better. If you get a 1:1 contention ratio connection then that 10Mbps is all dedicated for you and will not be shared with anyone else. Residential connections normally have a higher contention ratio. Lower contention ratio connection would cost a lot more.
