There are quite a few broadband providers you can choose from, the options are BSNL, Tata Indicom, Airtel and Tikona.
Whats your monthly budget, so the appropraite plan can be suggessted to you.
Airtel offers wired broadband in West Tambaram.
Monthly tariff R1199
Download Speed is 4 Mbps
Data is 15 GB
With this plan you get 1000 minutes of local calls to all networks
Airtel is a very good choice, as they give good speeds at reasonable rates and the best thing is the connection has stability.
Airtel gives very good coverage in Chennai in general so if choosing try going for Airtel broadband.
Tambram does not have many choices I think and Bsnl seems to be the only provider that is available. You should try calling companies to see if they are available in your area and if not have you thought about Bsnl EVDO? Price is very reasonable.
For the budget you have mentioned the above plan is suitable. The next plan actually exceeds your budget and goes to Rs1499, the details of this plan are as follows -
Monthly tariff R1499
Download Speed is 4 Mbps
Data is 30 GB
With this plan you also get 1000 minutes of local calls to all networks. The only differnce with this plan is the data usage otherwise eveything else is the same.
Tata also provides quite good tariffs:
Monthly Rental - Rs1399
Speed - 5Mbps
Data - 40GB
Im not quite sure if the above mentioned plan is wired or wireless you would need to find out.
However the plan below is a wired broadband connection and goes over your budget by Rs500, but posting the details incase you may consider it.
Monthly Rental - Rs1699
Speed - 10Mbps
Data - 40GB
Any reason to why you only want a wired connection? There are many wireless connections as well.
INR 1399 is good deal for me. but i couldnot find out this plan in TATA INDICOM website. Can you help me out?
Yes. I got it from tatadocomo website. But i couldnot select the west tambaram area. I have to check whether they will give the connection for west tambaram or not. Any idea?
Dear All,
Thanks alot for all. Finally i moved my budget from INR 1200 to ~ 1500/ Month .
Which is the best in terms of service, connectivity (No frequent disconnection) , Speed (Plan speed vs Actual) and other points -->
Tata docomo, Airtel and Tikona?
At present My preference (Only in terms of Amount of DATA)
1) TIKONA ---> Unlimited (NO FUP) 4 Mbps for INR 1499
2) TATA DOCMO ---> 40GB , 5Mbps for 1399 + some voice calls
3) Airtel ----> 30GB , 4Mbps + 1000 free calls for INR 1499
can you comment on my preference based on service, connectivity (No frequent disconnection) , Speed (Plan speed vs Actual) and other points
It will be a great help for me to choose right plan and network.
Finally, I have to considered the availability of the connection in my area (Krishna Nagar , West Tambaram)

I would personally pick either Airtel or Tata. I have not used Tikona but their reviews on the net doesn't seem to give a very good impression of the quality of service they provide.
You have to select Internet, then Broadband, the from the side where there is a location name select any other circle, then a list will appear and choose Tamil Nadu.
West Tambaran option is not there, there is only an option to choose circles so you have to choose Chennai.
But still call up Tata to see if they would provid the service in your area.
No response from Airtel/TATA/TIKONA/reliance![]()
Waiting for there feedback about availability
Reliance offering 4Mbps - Unlimited (No FUP) for INR 1099.
Any comment on Reliance network?

Gobinath
If Reliance wired connection is available then go for it by all means. Their network is one of the best in the country and with RIL joining hands they would have even better network as they have signed a network sharing pact.
Hi,
I have recently moved to Krishna Nagar 6th St. I am looking out for a wired broadband connection. Already BSNL and Airtel have responded back with no coverage. I am absolutely clueless.
Any help is very much appreciated.
Thanks
Prasanna
@Praznna
I guess that leaves you with very limited choice of your local cable operator if there is one. If there is no cable operator providing broadband they I would suggest getting something like a BSNL EVDO which is Rs750 per month unlimited usage. Dont forget to check coverage and signal strength before you buy. There is also an option of MTS which is Rs999 for 40gb and Reliance netconnect which offers similar plan but it all comes down to network coverage. You can also try asking people around you and see what they are using to get an idea what works best in your area.
@Admin
I will try my luck. Thanks for your prompt response.
Thanks
Prasanna
