    @rocky2003
teracom datacard....I am getting weak signal.......

1.Mention model number. also issued by MTNL locked.
    2.
try to check at a higher plane/height and in a more open space
    for "line of sight" reception.
    3.
    A review and extract
    source Google search:
Speed: As it is wireless broadband the speeds are quite variable as compared to wire line broadband using ADSL 2+ technology but that does not imply that you do not get smooth broadband experience. We carried out several speed tests with Teracom 3G data card on different sites and the speeds we experienced were in the range of 600kbps to 1.5Mbps which is quite amazing and satisfactory. Upload speed Is quite slow and ranges between 100kbps-300kbps . Major factors that impede download speed are factors like 3G network in the area, no. of applications running on your computer, network traffic etc ....

ok, they are pretty much same on an average of 10 tests I conducted...
The speed varies from 180~190 KBPS, torrent speeds go upto 190KBPS max...

When you say 225kbps, do you mean that you are downloading a file in windows and it shows 225kBps or 225kbps?

The difference is kilo-bits vs kilo-bytes.

    One byte is 8bits.

The reason I ask is that there is a big difference in the two nomenclatures.

When BSNL say that they provide 3.6mbps connection speed, it means that the max speed you would see when you are downloading from a good source on the net is 384 kBps.

I use BSNL 3G to connect in Blore / Hassan / Mangalore / Mysore in Karnataka. I am getting 100kBps (1.2mbps) connection with just one - two bars of signal strength).

Am sure a lot of you know the nomenclature but just clarifying.
Woooooo!. sorry to mention that! That was the actual speed of downloading in the download manager. it varies from 150 kbps to 380 kbps thats why the average of 225 kbps. About 7 mins for 100 mb file. thats good...isn't it?

How good is their datacard or modem or whatever they give with the 3g sim ??

I am planning to go to unlimited plan of 1359/- Rs .
So how much speed in "kilo BYTES" per second can I expect ??
How consistent is it for torrents ?? ( using utorrent ?)

Currently using the pathetic broadband of bsnl, 2mbps connection, and imho, it sucks

(btw, sorry for revoking an old thread )
I think it is better to stick with the BSNL provided data card.

    1. Whatever happens to it you throw it on their face.
    2. It is pre-configured to work with BSNL data sims.
    3. You can use windows dialer to dial modem in case of frequent disconnections.
    4. It has external antenna socket, which can be very helpful in low signal areas.

Now in Chennai, I believe, 7.2Mbps is not enabled. I am getting nearly 3.52Mbps speed in Direct and Torrent downloads and 1.8 to 2.0Mbps in uploads.

But my card is Sierra AC 306 3G Data card bought from eBay India, which is 21Mbps download and 5.76Mbps upload compatible.

NOKIA 5800 XM supports HSDPA, 3.6 Mbps

    So enjoy

It is 100% PURE UNLIMITED. No FUP.

Factors determining the speed......Lot of things as I have posted for EVDO.

I don't know whether here or in another forum. If possible, I will give the link or send Personal message to you. Or open in a new thread.
