Thread: Android Default browser with BSNL 3G connection

Hi all,

I recently purchased a BSNL 3G sim card and activated it. After some initial hiccups in getting the settings for android phones (finally had to enter it manually since BSNL's 58355 doesn't support Android phones), I was able to get the 3G connection. I can use all applications with the 3G connection and the speed is very good.

I noticed one issue. The default android browser doesn't work with this connection. Don't know why. But Opera mini works fine and well with BSNL 3G. All applications work. Is there anyone who is facing the same problem? Is this a generic issue with Android? I have some discussions of this in other forums but it doesn't lead to solving this and gets diverted to something else.

The phone I am using is Samsung Galaxy S I9000. Please do let me know your experiences.

I am using a MTNL 3G SIM (incl roaming in BSNL 3G areas) with a android 2.1 handset. Never faced any issue with the default browser. [Although I prefer to use the Dolphin Browser]

Recently Activated 3G, It works fine on Android 2.2.
No Issues.

Though I noticed that 3G is not as fast as my Wifi Connection(BSNL Unlimited 750 Plan), is it true.

I am getting around 1.4 mbps minimum using bsnl 3g connection. With 750 plan you can max get 512kbps that's all. So you should be getting better speed with 3g.

Can you all please post the APN settings so that I can check in mine? Thanks. The default browser just doesn't work on bsnl 3g but opera works fine. Weird problem. The default browser works fine on wifi with bsnl wired connection. Any inputs guys?

I found the solution to my problem. I had entered some values in the APN proxy and port. When I cleared them and have nothing in their places, the default browser and all browsers work fine with my BSNL 3G connection.

I dont believe this...i got this picture from one of the forums, and this Reliance ka 3G speed, can any one please tell me if this is ture. I mean 5.2Mbps is killer.
