Thread: Beetel (ZTE) MF190 3G Device Querry

Im from Kolkata i recently bought ZTE MF190 3G Device branded by Beetel and im using BSNL 3G with it and im getting so bad speed with that...around 30-40kbps...
Now i was wondering if this my device problem or not. cause i look around the internet forums and see everyone posting so high speed reports around 1-2Mbps wheras im getting 300-400Kbps now thats absurd...
Any one using this device any one else encountered this please reply...

I'm also from kolkata and facing the same problem.I think the problem is wth the device.
Because after i bought the device i went to the BSNL authorized store and i checked the speed with BSNL demo sim with Huwei modems which support 7.2 and 3.3 Mb.But both of the device showed the double of the speed which i was getting with my device.i checked in the same place with my laptop.So the problem is with our device.

I bought the device from chadni market just because of it's coast 2400 and it's 1yr warranty.And Bsnl provide the same featured huwei modem in 2900 and with 6 months warranty.Now i find the difference.

But i was getting more speed than you with my device.~100Kbps.

I think it's may be because of poor signal.Where you reside?

I just bought a 3g sim but they are not able to activate my sim for 2 days because Bsnl's server down issue.How petty?

Well I also bought it from chadni actually i was searching for huawei device but none of the stores had that...and all the stores had this beetel one... and they said it costs Rs.2300 and they said many people are buyin it its good...so i trusted on their words and bought it, and i took a sim that day and when i connected i got such a suckin speed i was speechless...my EVDO gives better speed than that...atleast it gives me a speed around 700-800kbps that means 70-110kbps download speed...
with this one i was getting 300-400kbps peak speed avg download speed around 30-40kbps... and ya i recide near dum dum(sinthirmore to be more precise)...where do u recide??? and ya 1 more thing today i was doing an xperiment and acidently got speed around 560-640kbps that means download speed of 70-80kbps...though it was for few seconds but now my avg speed is around 40...
the thing that i did was that i replaced *99# with *99**1*# dialing no and speed is better than before and im getting 3 towers yet so low speed...

Hey bro after todays result i just think that may be our device is just fine...may be its the problem with our network...today i was downloading a movie from rapidshare with my bsnl 3g and i was getting an avg speed of 130-150kbps download speed n the peak was 200kbps which is way above 1mbps here is the screenshot check it out i dint even use a download manager... http : // estufs . com / url / 01 (remove the spaces) this forum wasnt letting me post a link so i compresd it and posted the image...remove the space and chk out the link

At last after a long server down issue my 3g sim is now activated.but the device and the 3g service dissapointed me.My previous experience was in laketown regarding speed with demo sim.

now i'm getting the 7 days free internet use as a new subscriber.And right now i'm in khardaha.I just checked and it's is showing 4 tower and HSDPA but he download speed is not satisfactory.

i was getting 20-30 kbps download speed but after following your steps i;m getiing 40 kbps but the speed is not stable.now it's showing 5kbps download speed lol.

well after 30 mins of download my average download speed is 15 kbps.
i'm geting 20 kbps average download speed with aircel 2g sim in the same place with the same device and in same signal strength.

how funny......./ they can't even support 1/10 of what they promise.

I just find out the perfect place where i'm getting the 5 tower signal strength but no luck.

now my averge download speed is 10kbps.I think it's fully a netword issue.It's showing 3g coverage but can't provide the 2g service also.......:P

and bro i think there is more to it than just signal bars...
you see i have an EVDO connection aswel...and i saw recently im getiing full towers in all so in my room i was getting a speed of around 110-125kbps (around 1mbps) with full 5 towers...i went to the other room i put the device in such a place from where it gives 5 towers and i again checked but to my amazement i was getting mere 40-60kbps(320KBps-480KBps)....then it was by accident i moved the device and towers droped to 4bars and suddenly wen i checked the speed it rocketed up to 70-75kbps...
Now see my point its really confusing...So i think here we are dealing with 2 factors for good speed 1 is the network bars and another unknown factor X...
and i saw the same thing with my 3G aswell...everywhere i go same speed only 3 towers yet different speed...

but atleast its a relief that our device isnt d problem...and ya 1 more thing...you get different speed at different times of the day...i got that 3G speed in the morning around 10 or something on the very same day i again connected at nite and speed dropped to 40-50kbps

Bro what is you maximum download speed now?
Yup it's a relief that our device is not so bad but i compared my device with huwei modem and the fact is huwei is better than this device in respect to download speed.
Do you know any number to complain about speed?
Is there any chance to get any help from customer care?

Well rite now again speed has dropped to 40-60kbps...
and you know i have seen in some forum that some guy with huawei usb device geting a maximum speed of 40kbps...im not sayin huawei r bad or ours is beter tn huawei...but all im saying...may be at that moment it gave a better speed...
and well we are taking about bsnl over here so as far as i know therez no place for complaint...specially when our device is not provided by them...and cust care please dont waste your valuable time on them...they are totally clueless of what are taking about...

i am using the same, BSNL has congested netwrk and then u can get slow speed, say last night i got just 60kBps .... now in morning over 250kBps !!!

As u both using Beetel MF190, i have a question. The dialer software does not allow USSD codes for balance check, and there is no auto connect if line drops option - any help ?

well even im looking 4r one u can do 1 thing...conect d device start the dialer but dont connect go 2 ur connections u will c bsnl 3g dialup box use tht 2 connect n minimise ur beetel dialer...thts it ur dialup has redial option...

though it excludes call facility and still no USSD code run option unlike Huawei Mobile Connect!!! :-|

this 1 doesnt have any better options may be a bit sleek but no redial on drop plus it doesnt even have dialling option atleast the default dialer has that...

oh i told that no calling facility! ZTE is quite closed! Huawei has many firmware release!

ya thats the problem over here huawei isnt available and when it comes to online zte dialers or firmwares arent availble...

download the package, from the link given above!
UnRAR and extract iso file, there is a folder MDMA which includes a monitoring tool with USSD-support.

Extra Initialization string
Start > Settings > Control panel > Phone and modems options > Click on Modems > Select modem > Properties > Advanced > Extra initialization command >
Type the following string : AT+CGDCONT=1,"IP","bsnlnet"
now u can create own dial up!

but BSNL 3G has some prob - pages are not loading at one go! guess some DNS issue, similar problem reported from Kerala too !!!

and hey i found an alternate way try it.

Second Method-
Plug in the device>start the Dialer but dont hit connect.> go to network and connections and you will see a dialup box with the name BSNL 3G or whatever name you used to create earlier.>now right click on it> Check the first two options- 1. Display progress while dialing. 2. Prompt for name and password and then clik ok> Now Double click the dialup box and now you will get the dialing box just hit connect thats all.
And yes dont connect the dialer. let it stay as it is you can minimize it but dont close it if you close it the dialup box wont work.

Note:- Dailer= The software provided by the modem.
Dialup- The windows dialup box.

it would be nice to know Reliance is selling this model ...... though dashboard comes with Reliance modem is stripped down!

though the dashboard has some bug, as I tested it!

huawei is just 3.6Mbps ...... but wat i find most operators cap the speed -
vodafone 3g- 2Mbps
Aircel 3G - 3.6Mbps
BSNL 3G - 8.4Mbps
Tata Docomo - 3.6Mbps
Reliance - 7Mbps

so there is no need to go for 21Mbps modem!

regarding unlimited 3G - u can have it capped @256kbps with BSNL ipad micro SIM or Idea netsetter (manually select vodfn 3G)
