    Default Using Teracom LW273 BSNL 3G with TP-Link MR3420

    Hello Friends,

I have purchased TP-Link 3G router MR3420. I read about it that it can support 3G USB modem from any telecom including BSNL.

I already have Teracom LW273 7.2 Mbps 3G modem with BSNL 3G sim. It works with my Laptop. But when I connect with 3G Router MR3420, router is not able to detect 3G modem.

Has anybody found any hack or work around? I want to share my internet connection with 2 machines. Both machines are running simultaneously on my laptop. Win 7 as Host and Ubuntu 10.04 as Virtual Machine.

Kindly suggest a working method. Best is to get my new 3G Router working with Teracom 3G USB modem.

    Looking forward to your reply.

    Vin.

You can try Connectify. It can change your laptop into a wifi hot spot. If you have wifi adapter card in other machines (USB wifi adapter available for around Rs. 900) you can connect those machines using wifi. In order to use Connectify, you need to have Windows 7 Home Premium or above. Try and feedback.

Customer care doesn't seem to be having any support for BSNL 3G cards. Looks like Chinese products are not making support for India's biggest 3G Network BSNL.

    try this:
first use Teracom usb modem as usual.
Now insert in Tp link router.
In the router settings if you are asked
Whether the connection required userId/PW say YES
enter your Bsnl ID PW etc.
(Enable DHCP mode in router also )
    Then try LAN mode.
    wifi mode.
I don't have both units and on BSNL L/L broadband connection.
Usually Chinese units are exact copies of U.S models.
Check the Hardware board details , if seen in menu pages.
    Feedback.

This is not the problem with BSNL or Teracom. But with the TP-Link 3G Routers. TP-Link 3G Routers are not able to detect 3G USB modem that are on official sale for BSNL.

Modem is able to do its job as it is mentioned but TP-Link 3G routers are not able to detect 3G USB modem.

I don't know what you are trying to say. Obviously one will go to the settings page to get two devices connected. Moreover, TP-Link 3G Router has a quick setup link by which one can configure the router but the problem is the settings page shows that USB modem is not detected. They don't have configuration to detect BSNL 3G modems made by Teramcom Ltd.

Connectify is not a solution for me as it only works on Windows 7. Moreover, a friend of mine has tried and he says that it establishes Ad-Hoc network instead of a wifi Lan network.

I have sent email to TP Link. will update if reply is received.
I have checked the compatability list and posted the info here.

    any details available ?

Since you have the unit check in user manual, how to access the router settings.
Not different to other standard wifi router/s.

Check this link: claims the Router is compatible with Lw 273.

    Hi Gurpalsc and friends,

Have you received any positive response from tplink? Is the problem solved?

I too have Teracom LW272 and plan to buy a wifi router for it.

    Any suggestion?

    Regards.

I do not think TP link india gives a damn about it,
I had called them almost a year ago, but those jokers say "we are watiignf for information from Teracom"

I do not have hopes from them at all
