Arrow Speed limited to 1Mbps in the Promotional Offer Unlimited plans ? - Must See

I'm quite sure all of us are angered with the speed capping done at 1Mbps when the speeds were said to be upto 3.6Mbps during the promotional offer. Lots of us have taken the 6 months plan and are now at the receiving end of this unjustified decision of BSNL.

I have gone to the various offices in Hyderabad and have brought it to their notice that they cannot be capping speeds or download limits since nothing was mentioned in the promotional offer. All the officers i've met were obviously at loss with words and said they would definitely bring it to the notice of the highest authorities.

Meanwhile I have lodged a complaint with the Department of Public Grievances, Government of India. Quite shockingly one of the offices I went today showed me the complaint forward they have received from the department to which apparently they HAVE to answer.

Now for the important part. I want everyone of you facing the issue to write in the complaint here : :: Grievance Registration Form ::
Mark the options like i've shown in the SS : http://img21.imageshack.us/img21/8343/76529774.png

Please word it well, keep it short and mention the following :
    1. Your number.
    2. Your place of usage.
    3. When have you taken the connection.
    4. Terms and conditions at the time of taking (Unlimited usage at 3.6Mbps)
    4. What plan. Validity.
    5. Speeds you got earlier (3.6Mbps and above)
    6. Speeds you are getting now and since when (1Mbps)

End it by asking them to act immediately and restore the speeds as said in the promotional offer without capping them.

    Hopefully it will yield results.

    Thumbs up

    WELL DONE SUMANTH.

Though I am not eligible for complaining for this, your post will lead a way to get things solved.

Just now I have seen in another forum some ........ guys are shouting at the real members who were cheated and hence raised their displeasure with the BSNL. Those non committed guys are talking some nonsenses, unrelated to the sufferings of our BSNL consumers.

If possible I will give the link as you did, in other forum also, for the benefit of fellow members.

    Done a great job !!

Please do go ahead and post the link in that forum too. The only thing is the complaint should be properly done, otherwise its gonna be of no use.

Kudos man, you are the man....

Many of us thought there was nothing we could do other than complain in BSNL offices. Very thoughtful of you to post this here. Hope all of us will get our due and get the service that was promised. They're reducing speeds day by day without giving any hint.

    * I think this applies to the "Promotional offer" recharges of 2,3 and 6 months recharges. Since they've reformulated the monthly unlimited recharge options now, so users have choice not to recharge monthly unlimited.

The monthly unlimited could be out on their way too. Buts thats entirely different. They can change their plans but the plans which were said to be, have to be adhered to when they have taken the entire 6 months in advance.

Apart from filling up this form of Department of Public Grievances, Government of India, the next thing we could do is report to journalists and newspapers. I'm quite sure they would take it up and print it. We could either send the editor a email or few of the newspapers have a public grievance section to which we could mail them. I'll start working on The Hindu and Deccan Chronicle at my place. If its possible for you guys to do so too in your areas please take some time out and work on getting the news across to the newspapers.

A title of "Cheating in BSNL 3G" or "Beaware of BSNL 3G" or "BSNL 3G Scam" would be good if used. These are just my suggestions.

    Cool Great Job Sumanth !

I am in the same 1Mbs capped club for the balance 4 + months of my plan.
I wish I had your energy and time to go to BSNL CSC offices and complain.
( No- my sorry old ass can not do what you do!)
I think writing "Letters to Editor " thro Internet to
Hindu,Indian Express,Times of India, Economic Times, Financial express, Business World etc
may bring this matter in to the radar of news columnists.
Then when they dont have any sensational news-
    they will caption
"BSNL 3g customers taken for a ride"
" Bait and switch Tactics by BSNL"
"what they dont tell you in 3G advts- 3Mbps is max but you may get only 100KBps-(not even mentioned in fine print!!)

    ^^Those captions are pretty good

Anyway, you don't have to go around BSNL offices but do take some time out and write in to the newspaper dailies and also do fill up that Complaint from of the Department of Public Grievances, Government of India, that I have posted.

    Arrow

Recommendations of the International Telecom Union for 3G : a minimum speed of 2 Mbit/s for users who are stationary or moving at walking speed, and 348 kbit/s in a moving vehicle.
World Telecommunication Development Report 1999: Mobile Cellular - Summary - Page 5

Is the BSNL even aware of this ?

Just do a google search of " a minimum speed of 2 Mbit/s for users who are stationary or moving " and see the number of pages it throws up quoting the ITU recommendations.

    @Sumanth,

Its more like maximum of 2Mbps with BSNL... that too when u are close to tower, stationary and using an external antenna, u may get 2Mbps.

Anyone got any response for complaints made in that link????

If you have entered the password in that link you can check the status of your complaint.

Also, I have mailed The Hindu today.
    The Hindu : Navigation News
    Email Address : letters@thehindu.co.in

I'll try mailing a couple more dailies. But its looks like the forum members here aren't too enthusiastic about lodging a complaint or trying to make an effort to address the issue by mailing newspapers. . .nevermind, i'll try doing what I can.

    @Sumanth,

The status there shows its getting routed to respective managers in BSNL circles.

As far as newspapers are concerned, we can write emails to dailies. I personally, can't go beyond dropping emails or lodging complaints.

Neither can I. And I think thats the best we can do. Do let us know about the status updates if they are any.

Have an update. I wen to the office of The Hindu today at my place and explained the situation to them and listed them all the relevant details. Hopefully they wil publish it under Complaints section or have a report on it.

If it get published, it'll be really good coz I can show the published piece and go to the offices of the other newspaper dailies too.

The main office is in Nampally where the BSNL head for AP sits.

The person responsible for Hyderabad-Secunderabad section sits at the Secunderabad office which is very close to Paradise. See if you can go to any of these places and complain. I'll be going on Tuesday again as the concerned person is on leave at the moment.
