    Default Solution: BSNL 3G Sim+Huawei E122+TP-Link TM-MR3420 Wi-fi Router=Internet on Wifi

    Dear All,

I've a working solution for those who have been looking for sharing 3G (Tested with BSNL! should work with all 3G Providers!!) over Wi-fi.

Recently my single band BSNL 3G modem broke and I checked with BSNL for new modem which was costing around Rs.1100+ and locked to BSNL network. Since I dont want to buy the network locked modem from BSNL, I looked for other options from the market and visited Richie Street in Chennai. Tri-band unlocked modems were available from Rs.1600 and then I came across this Wifi router which has 3G share (usb provision in the router) mentioned in the box. But no shops were confirming if this will work with locked/unlocked 3G modems and won't accept it back if it was not working. Then I had closer look at the box and found that they have listed few devices, confirming them working fine with this router! And one such device listed, Huawei E122 modem was available in the same shop. The cost for the modem is Rs.1900 and Router is Rs.2400. So finally I bought this combo for Rs.4200 and left the shop relectuntly still having the doubt if this is going to work.

Reached home and first tested the Huawei modem and it worked great. Then opened the router box, the instrument was small and came with power adapter, 2 detachable antennas and a patch cord. Setup was breeze and took less tha 5 minutes. The 3G modem was auto detected during setup and has option to choose different service providers (BSNL, Airtel, Vodafone, etc). Once the setup is completed, the router rebooted and Bang.....Router started sharing the internet The best part is, you need to connect to the computer only the first time for configuration. Every time you start the router, internet is connected automatically (this can be controlled through an option in the router) and no need for the computer to be switched on. This is really great to connect mobile devices!! Also you can access/control the router from any mobile/computer in the network. The status page of the router displays great informations like, 3G modem's signal strength, IP Address, System run time etc. Also you can control bandwidth usage through this router.

All in all I'm totally happy with the router and 3G modem and thought that posting this could be useful for others too!

Do let me know if you need any additional details.
