Default Unable to Find 3G speed

    Hi,
    I am using 8765****** series bsnl 3g SIM.(UP East)
I didn't converted it from 2g to 3g but it was brought as a 3g sim.
I recharged it with Rs.98 and for the whole month i got 15-20 KBps speed with 3g network selected.
Now after 1 month i recharged it with Rs.10(20MB 3G with 1 day validity) to find out what speed bsnl 3g is giving in my area and it is still struck to 15-20 KBps.

I tried this during the 98 recharge validity period but it was also unsuccessful.
Can someone tell me is this the problem in my sim or the type of recharge i'm using.

I have Nokia C5-00. And i connect to internet using OVI suite.

To get back ur 3g speed on a 3g recharge u have to reactivate GPRS by sending SMS GPRSPRE to 53733 and wait for 1 or 2 days and if this doesn't work then call Bsnl customer care 3g department. In Bsnl once to loose ur 3g speed it's hard to get back. It took me 7 days but finally I got it

YOU RECHARGED IT WITHIN THE PERIOD OF 98 RECHARGE (1 MONTH) thats why its not working. wait for that period to be over.check *123*6# and then charge by a 3g plan

    480 kbps or 480 KBps?
If it is the latter one you should be satisfied with your speed.
And i guess it has nothing to do with port speed because when i connect via my nokia it says "connected at 460 kbps" (approx., actually i dont remember) and still i get 600 Kbps above speeds.

i am also going through a similar problem which is due to the speed capped at 2 Mbps, i called the customer care couple of times and they were not able to understand the problem, the call dropped and once it was transferred to voice mail. Any suggestions or idea on how to get the speed cap removed from by BSNL 3G sim.

Exactly what I am saying. The speed at which you are connected is not necessarily what you are getting. BSNL broadband connects me at 100 MBps. That doesn't mean I will be getting 100MBps. I don't know why such confusing notification is shown in Windows but I think it is always with modems built in mobile phones.

BSNL sucks..... try this. it worked for me. use all the balance on the sim and keep it aside for a month. reload 98 after that. it works for a while.

    Default Getting 100 kbps speed

    Hi everybody,
    (sorry for big message)
Migrated from Aircel to BSNL for 3g. The person at BSNL office charged me Rs 120 for 3G special plan. I got 150 mb free but I am not getting the 3g speed (I think it should be > 1 Mbps). The speedtest.net result shows 0.09 Mbps download speed and BSNL speed test shows nearly 110 kbps.
Dialing *123*6# shows the remaining data usage.
Also wanted to tell that when I connect using Sony Ericsson PC suite, it shows as "Network : GPRS"
Does it mean that I am still on GPRS? The small symbol on top left corner of phone shows 3G and H symbols while surfing.
I am using "GSM and 3G" settings on phone.
A guy at BSNL customer care says that 3G speed is 35-40 kbps only, while GPRS speed is 15-20 kbps. So I am getting 3g speed.

Any suggestions so that I can get good speed.

    Thanks

To rule out wrong settings or speed reduction while tethered, Fist do speedtest with the sim in the smart phone.
If proper BSNL 3G signal is there in your area (60%), you should get minimum 512 kbps and possibly 750 kbps-1 mbps -1.5 mbps etc.
In theory you should get the same speed in Lpatop via data card/ tethering.
Even in phone speed is 20-30kBps, the you need to go to CSC .
In BSNL (as long it is not your primary voice no) ,it is better to get a fresh 3G prepaid sim with no history and start fresh with a 3G data pack
