Default 3G prepaid vs Postpaid Micro Sim

Recently I got a prepaid 3G micro sim for my iPad.

Now I tested the speeds using speedtest apps and I get about 1-3mbps max at a lot of places etc.

Similarly one of my friend has a postpaid connection. He gets about 3-4 mbps speeds.

I use this on my iPad. Any reasons why the speeds differ. Is it because of the Prepaid and postpaid plans . Since I pay 750 for a 6 GB plan for the iPad. The postpaid has 999 ultd plans.

Has anyone else faced this issue.

I've a hunch since many years that postpaid connections get better network performance than prepaid connections. I've no proof and maybe I'm wrong. However, it's what I've experienced so far.

Are both of you using the same APN or different APN. Speeds can vary based on APN. I have two prepaid numbers from MTNL. Both are supposed to be 3G but works on different APN. One is from the initial stages of 3G launch and gives a much higher speed. The other was taken later and uses the commonly used APN and gives a lower speed.
