Default BSNL cheapest 3G Mobile Internet Packs

BSNL after being the big bad broadband will begin to be a favorite and the reason is the low 3G tariff plans which they have introduced. Many service providers are increasing their 3G tariffs but BSNL have decided to go the opposite way and lowered their 3G rates.

The new reduced 3G rates for BSNL are as follows:

    240MB data for Rs39
    500MB data for Rs78
    1GB data for Rs139/155
    2GB data for Rs251
    5GB data for Rs561
    7GB data for Rs821
    10GB data for Rs1011
    20GB data for Rs1949

These by far are much cheaper than other service providers, many service providers provide 1GB data for more than Rs200 where as for the same price you get 2GB data.

BSNL have a wide coverage across India and this will for sure attract a lot of users.

They are pretty good plans. Anyone know what MTNL is providing these days?

MTNL 1GB plan is Rs175 and 3GB is Rs250, which is equally good.

MTNL is not available outside Delhi and Mumbai and BSNL is not available where MTNL is so we cannot really compare the two.

Not the same company. MTNL is partly owned by the government and listed on the stock market where as BSNL is wholly owned and operated by the government. There are plans of privatizing BSNL too but it is still in the pipeline some where.

Today i saw in the news that from next year MTNl and BSNL would be merged as both are running in lose.. I think they made this dicision by remering some basic concepts of math i.e negative negative is positive haha

This news was told before as well some 2 years back I think, but nothing as such ever happened.

They should be merged there is no point in having just two cities Delhi and Mumbai with MTNL and the rest of the country with BSNL.

Good news from BSNL after so much of closing plans and all, BSNL have finally made a good decision. I am hoping these tariff plans would be permanent, as if it is just a temporary thing there is no point.

Still very costly as compared to MTNL 3G. MTNL has their 6 months plan and a yearly plan which makes it way cheaper then any other provider we have in India.

There is a 6months plan for mtnl 3g, monthly unlimited 3g plan and a yearly plan that costs Rs5000 and gives you 100GB data.

This BSNL 1GB 3G data has a validity of 20 days, which unlike other service providers is generally around 28-30 days validity.

Reliance 3G gives 1 GB for ₹ 76 valid for 10 days, that work out to 3 GB for ₹ 228 per month.

MTNL and BSNL have free roaming. So MTNL would work on BSNL network at no extra cost. I myself use a MTNL Delhi connection (as backup) while moving all around the country. I prefer the ₹ 4, 40 MB recharge that can be activated through SMS. Very useful for emergencies.

Which circle is this offer available for panchabhut? Seems good but only if you are able to use all the 1GB of data in 10 days.

all circles. Its Plan 3. The rates vary by one or two rupees depending on the circle. There is also Plan 2 which gives 1 GB/15 days for 93 to 95 depending on the circle.

BSNL has definitely one the cheapest internet plans in the market but, on the other hand, their network coverage is below average. I used to use a BSNL SIM in the past, just because of its cheap data plans. But after using it for some time, I ported to another operator because of non availability of the network for most of the times in my area. I also had a BSNL wimax setup at home, which I had unsubscribed recently for the same cause. They are also worst at their customer devices.

Their customer service is really pathetic. I have applied for a voice + data connection (broadband) around two weeks back and till now there is no movement. I think I need to visit them again and push them hard to get it done. On visiting their office I get a feeling that the employees are not really interested to sell their services to us. There is big difference between private and public operators, at least in customer management. I think the only solution for a change in their attitude is to introduce performance linked incentive plan just like private players.

Nowadays we need to purchase a modem for broadband connection. Even if we are ready to follow their guidelines, they are not ready to give a quick service. I haven't got even a single call from their customer service till now.

The problem with BSNL is practically they are least bothered about their customers, which otherwise should be their first preference. For internet users on the go the basic need is connectivity and it certainly doesn't matter much whether they provide it for a few bucks lesser than other players.

I would have certainly used it as an old time user but for the poor service they provide I am not willing to use it, not for the time being at least. The worst part about the BSNL mobile internet is there is nothing like 3G but they give 2G instead. 4G is the future of Indian connectivity and I am waiting for that eagerly. I am hopeful the authorities will soon upgrade it to remain in competition.
