Angry Internet get disconnected at powercut(I have backup)

    I am using a siemens c2100 router.My broadband plan is UL750 plus.
From last few days when ever there is a power cut my broadband connection gets disconnected.
I have connected my router to inverter connection .At time of power cut the link light remains stable but the broadband disconnects.I dont understand why it happens.Even these days my broadband connection disconnects very frequently i cant download a file through windows, beocoz roadband gets disconnected when some time i have done 98% downloading and all gets loss.
Can any one tel me what should i do?why it happens..
in my locality the other bsnl broadband connections keep working fine but problem is with my connection.
    What may b possible causes?
1-is it due to old firmware version of my router?
2-Do bsnl take much time to start there generators?haaaaaaaaa
3-Once i had a debate with a bsnl personnel regarding the replacement of faulty router..had he done something?
Help me guys i am really frustated.Even i am not sure that i will be able to submit this post as there is a power cut presently.

There is no problem with BSNL.

You said you have connected modem to inverter. Inverter is not a UPS. For continuous electricity supply you need UPS. Inverter has a small lag that is enough between switching. This is OK for home appliances but not for computers and other devices which require no lag.

Have a look at this thread: http://www.indiabroadband.net/comput...erter-ups.html (Difference between Inverter and UPS)

On the other hand if you really meant UPS (and not inverter) then your UPS is the problem.

    1. Use a download manager like FreeDownload Manager or Star Downloader.
    2. Modem/router settings select GDMT
    3. Post screenshot of modem/router page showing SNR/Attn etc.
    4. Ensure all Telephones are connected AFTER the splitter.
Use extra ADSL splitter for parallel connection in other rooms.
    5. If you use an UPS with lagtime less than 25 ms ( and Pure Sinewave type)
may be your connection will not be lost.
6.For Computer( laptop) 0wn battery can also make changeover.
    7. There are two models of c 2110.

My router model is Siemens C2110(Not nokia siemens network).

No matter - even if your LED remains lit you still have lost power. The modem is power by a cheapo 12V DC converter that retains some power via capacitor for some moments even after power shut off. The 12V supply is not an SMPS. That is the reason why you see the LED lit. However eletronics recognize the loss of the power immediately.

All inverters are sine wave inverters. There cannot be any other type of inverter. The inverter quality depends upon the sine wave quality. But inverters are not UPS and no matter how good they are, there will be a delay between mains off and inverter on. And vice versa also.

There are two general types of power inverters: true-sine wave or modified-sine wave (square wave). True-sine wave inverters produce power that is either identical or sometimes slightly better to power from the public utility power grid system. The power wave when viewed through an oscilloscope is a smooth sine wave.

Modified-sine wave and square wave inverters are the most common types of power inverters on the market. Modified-sine wave power inverters produce a power wave that is sufficient for most devices. The power wave is not exactly the same as electricity from the power grid. It has a wave form that appears as a choppy squared-off wave when viewed through an oscilloscope..............................

I noticed this too. The link remains stable if power goes off and comes back rapidly. But you cannot browse or download any more, you'll have to restart the modem.

I think just4kix is right. Inverters produce a bit of power lag during switching. I'm not sure why link led remains stable. It might be because in such situation the modem looses some of its status but not all of it and also static devices and capacitors takes a bit of time to discharge which may cause the link LED to keep glowing.
