Post Unable to port forward on WA3002G4 router

    Hi,
I have the WA3002G4 router from BSNL and wanted to port forward (port 59038) to speed up uTorrent client. This is what i have done

    - Logged into the router and made a note of the DNS IP address (192.168.1.1 ->Device Info )

    Primary DNS Server: 214.48.240.81
    Secondary DNS Server: 214.48.240.90

    - Changed the DHCP range in the router

    Start IP Address: 192.168.1.2
    End IP Address: 192.168.1.200
    Subnet Mask: 192.168.1.0

    - Have assigned a static IP to my laptop(Control Panel -> Network Connections -> Local Area Connection -> TCP/IP properties )

    IP: 192.168.1.250
    Default Gateway: 192.168.1.1
    Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0

    Preferred DNS server: 214.48.240.81
    Alternate DNS server: 214.48.240.90

    - I then logged into the router again (192.168.1.1 -> Advanced Setup -> NAT)

    - Here I created a new entry (as given in portforward.com website for this router model and for uTorrent Client)

    Server Name : Utor1
    External Port Start : 59038
    External Port End : 59038
    Protocol : TCP/UDP
    Internal Port Start : 59038
    Internal Port End : 59038
    Server IP Address : 192.168.1.250

    - I saved the changes and rebooted the router

Now when I click on the "Test if port is forwarded properly" in uTorrent Client (Options -> Speed Guide)

    I got the following error

Welcome to the µTorrent Port Checker.
A test will be performed on your computer to check if the specified port is opened.

    Checking port 59038 on 59.96.36.200...

Error! Port 59038 does not appear to be open.

Please see PortForward.com - Free Help Setting up Your Router or Firewall[/url] for more information about how to map a port.

Please make absolutely sure that PeerGuardian2 or Protowall is allowing utorrent.com (72.20.34.145) in either of those programs. Those of you using ipfilter.dat should make sure the list does not include the website's IP. After making sure of this, re-run this test by refreshing the page (F5).

I am also not behind any firewall. What am I missing in this case?

    Hi,
I am not behind a firewall. I checked Control Panel -> Windows firewall and got the message that the service is not running. Could it because this is my office laptop as well, and the IT guys have enforced some other rules to block port forwarding?

do you have any other pc to test the port forwarding, if so , then we can make sure that the router settings are correct and its only something to do with the laptop..

Hmm...I was thinking on the same lines as well. My home PC has some issue with the SMPS. Will get that fixed in a couple of days and then ping back with the results from the other PC

Any more suggestions to try out until then are welcome.

    Thanks

Don't Scream! Edit and use smaller fonts.
http://www.portforward.com/english/r...-502Cindex.htm confirm 502C. Searching in google for 802C. OK. newest router from DLINK.
select bittorrent as application. should be same settings.

    @sagar1234
    GLB-802C port forwarding
Post screen shot of Device status page,
showing the menu selections , to compare with similar Routers
, so that user/s can guide you.
This modem seems to be latest only for Indian Market
and being sold since Aug 2008.
No guide/s available in Linksys Website.( other than product specifications ).

One suggestion which seemed to have worked : I have not tried it.
connect the RJ45 from modem to LAN port of Wifi router,
instead of WAN port.Enter PF details in either one or both.

You need to understand port forwarding concepts. Please read the following: Torrents and Port Fowarding Guide

Port forwading is almost same in all routers. Either use "Virtual Server" otion (if available) or use "NAT/DMZ" option.
