Rep Power: 2 | hello everybody, I have recently got my bsnl broadband connection. my modem is wa3002g4 type II. my computer is pentium III in which there is no LAN card so i decided to go for wireless lan. for that i purchased Netgear USB Adapter. one friend of mine has done the setup and now i am able to connect to net. problem was I was not able to login router login page using 192.168.1.1 so as per the suggestion given in this forum, i assigned static ip address 192.168.1.3 by right clicking Wireless Network Connection 2 Netgear 111v3 and then selecting TCP/IP option. after that i was able to login 192.168.1.1 Now the problem is in the router setting i changed router ip address from 192.168.1.1 to something like 240.25.200.215 for the security reasons. it's subnet mask was 255.255.255.0. and then without configuring anything i save and reboot it. now i am not able to login to 192.168.1.1 or 24.25.200.215. what is the problem? another thing is when i try to assign static ip address to Wireless Network Connection 2 Netgear 111v3, it does not take value greater than 223. so plz somebody could tell what is the problem and how can i login my router login page. plz note that i am able to connect the net. thanks in advance regards arvind |

Rep Power: 12 | Do a factory restore on your router... then log in using the same ip as before >> set your computer to assign ip and dns automatically. Ther is no need to change your routers ip address... just follow the wireles security tutorial by Just4kix in broadband how to section and set up a network password and that will do it. |

| Platinum Member | When you changed the router's IP address, the router cannot be accessed at http://192.168.1.1. 1. Do a hardware reset of the router by powering ON the router and pressing the RESET button on the back panel for 20 seconds till all router LEDs flash rapidly. 2. PC TCP/IP settings should be "Obtain IP address automatically" and "Obtain DNS Server Address automatically" 3. Connect PC to router by LAN cable and configure the router once again (http://192.168.1.1). 4. ENABLE DHCP in router. 5. Now if you wish to change the router address, change it to whatever you feel like but keep the last digit as '1'. You say you changed it to 240.25.200.215. Choose 240.25.200.1. 6. You will get a login box again at http://240.25.200.1. Your PC will automatically get an IP address that is 240.25.200.nnn where nnn is any number that is within the range of router. For Linksys, this will be 240.25.200.100. 7. You should be able to access the router from now on at http://240.25.200.1. 8. If you wish to set TCP/IP address of PC manually then it should be in the range 240.25.200.3 to 240.25.200.254.

Rep Power: 2 | Dear just4kix, I think I have made some mistake here, 1) I have WA3002G4 Type II modem (I am calling it router, whether right or wrong, I don't know) 2) As you said about hardware resetting, there is no reset button on above mentioned modem. it only has 4 lan, 1 line and switch button. 3) When I first connected my pc (don't have LAN card) using Netgear wireless Adapter, then also I was not able to connect to 192.168.1.1 so I used static ip address by selecting Wireless Network Connection 2 in network connections. then i was able to log in to 192.168.1.1 there i changed ip address which was 192.168.1.1 and subnet mask 255.255.255.0 for ADSL or something like that. since then i am not able to login that page. plz note i am able to connect to net. plz tell me how to login. thanks in advance Regards Arvind |

| Platinum Member | Every ADSL modem has a built in router but not vice versa. There has to be a reset button. It is usually hidden. There was some post on some modem's RESET button was hidden and not marked. |

Rep Power: 12 | Thr reset access may be at bottom of the WAG3002-G4. All vents square in size for ventilation but one will be round. right side . Just guessing. I think this was mentioned in the "sticky" thread for some other router! sl2_141. |

Rep Power: 2 | Dear just4kix and essbebe, I am able to reset my modem. reset button was found at the spot shown by essbebe. thanks a lot to both of you for that. Now I want to login at 192.168.1.1 . plz note that my pc dont have LAN card. so I am using Neatgear Wireless Adapater for accessing the net. Now in network connections on right clicking Wireless Network Connection 2 Netgear 111v3 option and then selecting TCP/IP settings as "Obtain IP address automatically" and "Obtain DNS Server Address automatically" as suggested by just4kix, I am not able to login to 192.168.1.1 . But when i give Static ip address like 192.168.1.4 and default gateway as 192.168.1.1 and dns server as 218.248.240.25, i am able to login. so should i keep this static ip address or not. I also want to know how to setup security of wireless connection. thanks in advance regards Arvind |

If it works , leave it alone ! This "static" address is for your computer. and allotted by DHCP if selected for multiple computers as suggested by @just4kix. The Dynamic IP given By BSNL always changes. NETGEAR - Configuring Wireless Security (WEP/WPA/Access list)

Rep Power: 2 | Dear Just4kix thanks a lot, As shown by you in Wireless Security Primer i and ii, I changed my passwords for admin, support and user accounts. also since I can access broadband only by WLAN (since my pc dont have lan card so no telephone cable can be attached), I have enabled WPA2 -TKIP (AES) in modem and given that key also to my netgear wireless USB adapter also. and it's working. One thing I want to know is when i resetted my modem then after powering on internet was connected without giving username and password. How to change it so net is connected only when I dial from my PC. also is there any way i can restrict no. of connection to my WLAN since i will only access net through my pc only (no other pc or laptop should be allowed to connect). I know i am asking too many questions. meanwhile i am going through previous threads. thanks again reagrds Arvind |

Rep Power: 12 | Modem/WIFI router WA3002G4- no ethernet card in computer. Wireless LAN adapter - Netgear USB modem ..111v2 Quote:
2. Go to any other computer in your LAN. ( How many you have ?) Check Network connections. View available wireless connections. You will see message about "secured" "need key" etc OR remove the USB adapter when you don't use the connection ! Even your own computer cannot connect to Internet ! 3. Go to WAN page of modem http://i23.tinypic.com/nlpdhs.jpg click EDIT Next page click NEXT uncheck "PPP/PPPoE" enable "Bridged" SAVE and reboot. Wait for 2 or three minutes. Use Dialer now to connect. Enter UserID and PW. Keep all passwords security keys " "TOP Secret" and double seal the envelope containing the details, and keep it in a very secure place. Happy "surfing"

Rep Power: 2 | Dear LovelyMe, Exactly the same as shown in your photograph. the only difference is my modem is WA3002G4 and yours is some other. otherwise the reset switch is exactly at the same place. |
