Rep Power: 2 | Hii...I have an ACER ASPIRE 5920 laptop and it has a slot for express card i wanna take EDVO card ..Im from Hyderabad and i enquired about it near my exchange and i have that 2.4 Mbps plan available at my place... 1)can i put this pcmicia card in my express card slot in my laptop ? ?I mean does it support it? Its like i use vista OS...will it create any problem regarding drivers ? 2)Also i saw somewhere in the NET that we cant download anything from torrents or rapidshare or some sharing sites like that !! Is it true ? ? plz do suggest me bcoz the whole plan is very costly and i need to manage my budget very tightly!! |

Rep Power: 5 | evdo has usb port... cant you use that?? im not sure whether it has the pcmcia version.. if it does then you surely can use it.. better usb though..Well i think torrent speeds would be slow.. as no portforwarding options are available.. not good for torrents.. |

Rep Power: 2 | that USB support thing has only a maximum of 144kbps itseems...I asked that guy from the telephone exchange...And whats this post forwarding thing with torrents ? ? How does it differ from the normal ADSL modem ? |

Rep Power: 5 | usb supports the 2mbps speeds too.. it depends on the network you are connected to.. or the tower rather.. if the tower supports you would get 2.4mbps.. and i heard that this card doesnt support port forwarding.. its not ADSL tech |

Rep Power: 5 | have you seen cell phone towers at multiple locations in different areas like this one http://www.enavillage.org/images/EnaTower.jpg .. just like this there are EVDO towers.. now certain towers support only 144kbps speeds.. and certain towers have been upgraded and support 2.4mbps speeds.. so it depends on which area you are in currently(with your laptop) and if that area has a 2.4mbps tower nearby, then you would get 2.4mbps speeds if not only 144kbsp |
