Smile Will the modem DAX V1456VQE work with BSNL?

    Hi Friends,

I am relatively new to Broadband & to this forum. I am planning to take up the BSNL UL 750 Plan(after doing some research on the comments given by you friends on this wonderful forum).

Now the question is I have a modem "DAX V1456VQE" which my brother got from one of his friends.. Let me know whether this modem will work for the new connection or do I have to take a new Modem from BSNL???

    Modem AX V1456VQE

No. It is a dialup modem, and you need an adsl modem for BSNL BB.
You can also get adsl modem on rent from BSNL
You can use it for 56K dialup internet service , as standby.
Netone dialup Internet usage free till 31st Oct 2008. Reduced Telephone charges as usual. Check your State's BSNL web site.
List of modems/routers with settings etc.

Thanks, essbebe. That was a detailed explanation. I will keep this modem as a Backup for a Dial-up connection. For BB, I will take a new Modem itself as the rent/month is not feasible when compared to taking a new modem. New Modem costs only Rs.1800.

essbebe, can you provide me the website/advertisement issued by BSNL for free Dial up connection till Oct 31st... Obviously we need to have a UN & PW for connection. Where shall I get this from? Please let me know....

I am from chennai .. but the connection which I wish to avail is in my home town (Kanyakumari). I tried registering with the link which you hav provided but it is for chennai location & I couldn't change the STD code in it... Do you know whether we hav another link where outside chennai customers can avail this offer ?? or should we get in touch with our BSNL office to know more about this??

Essbebe, I got the link for our location from Google... & I am able to register for the free dial up connection now... Thanks a lot ... Now that after I register, I just want to connect the phone line to to PC & get connected to the Internet right?

How to configure the Dialup connection in the PC? Please advise ...

How to download "Netone Dialer" in our PC? It was there in the link which you provided to me? but before getting connected to the Internet, it isn't possible for me to access that link right?

Sorry for too many questions.. I am quite comfortable with BB but not with Dial-up......

How to configure the Dialup connection in the PC
I am able to register for the free dial up connection now
If you connected using the dialer with Netone netone 172222,
Now give your phone number with STD code and password and dial 172222. That is all. from phone line to Rj11 toport of dialup modem.
Make a short cut to Desktop.
    No need for Netone dialer.
Any New dialup connection either for Netone ( or Sancharnet) or Broadband
Start All programs/ Accessories/ Communications/ Network connection wizard . or Make a New network Connection. follow instructions.
Check in Network.LAN the present dialup connection will appear.
    Para two :

Essbebe, Everything is configured in the system & Unfortunately we couldn't get connected to the Internet. Everything is perfect... Do you hav any clue why this is not getting connected?

Infact, we did register a complaint with BSNL & the response is not that good. They just said "If you had connected well, you should be able to get connected".

It just says "Device not available".. The modem DAX V1456VQE is a brand new one. None of the light blinks..

    Help me out....

I even tried that .... everything is perfect .... The thing is that the serial port from the modem is split up into two. One as 9 pin & another as 18 pin ... We are unable to connect the 18 pin in to our PC as both the pin & the port as similar & it can not hold the pin.

Is there any external adapter or something that I can buy & then connect to this 18 pin serial port & then connect it on to the PC???

Any idea ??? I don't know what is really going on .....

May be a cable similar to connecting the Harddisk will suit.
( Lowest quotation !) or buy a PCI dialup Fax Voice modem card.
if still interested in a dialup connection.
