Default BSNL Siemens C2110 failed to get IP address on PC

I have BSNL Siemens C2110 router and it was working 3 months without any problem. Now it started the problem as below

    - All lights steady except data which is off, but internet not working

    - After two days Link LED is totally off (Not even blinking) and also my PC is not getting IP address (It used to get IP address before and it is set to get IP automatically). Even after configuring PC with 192.168.1.10 & then try to access 192.168.1.1 and fails. Connectivity between PC & Router is active throgh Ethernet port and when connecting link is active and getting message Aquiring IP address and at last it fails and display limited connectivity.

Can any body throgh some light on this

    Thank you in advance

    Check settings again.
Or if confident reset to factory dfaults. and enter data.
    Para two:
Whether the modem is on rent or outright purchase, if still not working, take it to CC ( your exchange who will replace it ( usually for purchased unit within one year )

I have to try the factory reset. Since modem is on rent I am not sure later BSNL exchange people will make any issue if I try to reconfigure?

if you have doubts, better take the router to nearest exchange and ask them to set it up. If it does not work, they will replace the unit !!!
Take any recent telphone bill as proof that the connection Unit is yours.
    para two:
    Post ipconfig/all
1.Start run type cmd type ipconfig/all
2.The default gateway ( usually 192.168.1.1 is the modems Ip address.
    3.Open IE type above address
    4. If page opens enter admin and password as password.
    5. You will get a Menu
    6. Go down the list and check Diagnostics page , if any.
    7. Check in WAN page vpi/vci is 0 and 35 your user ID and PW are entered. ( If earlier you were getting connected as soon as you switch on system.
    8. See settings instructions in web site given above.

    UPDATE: Start Network LAN properties
Status support what it shows ?
    Repair option can be tried.
IN TCP/IP change DNS to 208.67.220.220 and 208.67.222.222

    Thank you for your reply

When I put ipconfig/all I am getting the IP address as 169.....which is adapter fails to get an IP from DHCP of router. Neverthless, I configured manually my PC IP to 192.168.1.10 and then tried accessing 192.168.1.1 throgh IE and it prompts page not found.

Also tried repair throgh network properties and still fails to get an IP address.

Does the reset will set the router LAN interface to 192.168.1.1?

Does the only major settings in router config is vpi/vci is 0 and 35 & username/password?

I may visit exchange and hand over them the router and let them check the router. But the problem is that the area we are is a remote village and the exchange staff is not technically sound and even doesn't understand what is IP address. They have a step by step process written and if it is work then it is ok and if it didn't work then they may change modem/router. If still problem they will blame that cable problem and can't do anything. This is their common answer if they don't understand the problem.

By the way which modem/router from BSNL is relaible most?

    Did you check this ?
    Start Network LAN properties
Status support what it shows ?
    Repair option can be tried.
IN TCP/IP change to OPENDNS 208.67.220.220 and 208.67.222.222

    Para two:
When I put ipconfig/all I am getting the IP address as 169..
Did you enter subnet mask 255.255.255.0
    Post Full ipconfig/all data.
    in "ObtainIP address automatically." option.
    Ping 192.168.1.1 and ping 192.168.1 .10 result ?
Anyway your connection is lost. Reset the modem and try to access settings page.

yea.. i think its better you reset your modem.. try this.. set pc lan card to "obtain ip automatically" .. then shutdown pc.. reset modem.. turn on pc..you should now get an ip address hopefully. if not try static ip like you tried before.then access modem through 192.168.1.1 .. then follow this to configure ppoe http://www.calcutta.bsnl.co.in/dataoneinstall/mu09.html

Thank you essbebe & superprash2003 for your advice.

I visited local exchange and they also faced same problem as not able to get IP address in their PC as well. They replaced me with another same model router (Siemens C2110).

But the new modem they configured for Bridge mode and I made a dialup connection (Broadband) from my PC to put username and & passwd.

Now the moment I put username/password the connection comes active and works for 1 minute (can connect to internet for apprx. one minute) and then the PC freezes and doesn't respond even CTRL-ALT-DEL.

Can anybody advice what is happening?

    Thank you

1.How you connected via LAN port or USB port ?
2.Keep minimum applications, . Close all other applns appearing in status bar.
    3. Go to calcutta telphones website and check whether FW update is required.
    There are two models.
    3. Restore "Always ON" Use the system for two or three days.
    Check problems if any.
    Then start all other modifications.

    via LAN

2.Keep minimum applications, . Close all other applns appearing in status bar.

Only McAfee is active and I will try later today by closing this also (can have risk of infection)

    3. Go to calcutta telphones website and check whether FW update is required.

This also I have to check later today

    4. Restore "Always ON" Use the system for two or three days.

Can I do the settings change by modifying existion PPPoE connection or has to be deleted and recreated ?

I expect Always connect will work and it was working before. But why the Bridge mode is not working????

Can I do the settings change by modifying existion PPPoE connection
Make a note of present settings or make screenshots.
Just uncheck "bridged' and select ppp/pppOe or similar .
    http://www.calcutta.bsnl.co.in/dataoneinstall/mu09.html
Enter UserId without @ bsnl.in password etc.
Let us unfreeze the computer first !
