    Default modem adapter problems

    dear friends,
i have a bsnl unlimited rs.750/ monthly plan.the modem is nokia siemens c2110.by experience found that modem is not bad.the only problem (every) is the adapter for the modem.you have to change it almost twice every month(it cannot handle too much fluctuations and in my area it is common).i am sick and tired of bribing bsnl for the adapter.does anyone know anything less sticky.i really like to be in the right.

also can anyone clarify that modem bought outright can be replaced if its within a year.in my area the officials can't or won't say anything.they wont even tell if i can purchase the modem (the whole set) from them normally.have to always go the wrong way.its easier though.

can someone post links to something informative.

    thanks

If the problem is with the power adapter and it is going bad because of power fluctuations, there is no guarantee that adapter for the new modem will not go bad.

    You can do the following:

    a) Use a UPS. UPS not only gives an uninterrupted supply, but the output sine wave is almost pure @ 50 Hz. It will also reduce power fluctuations. Buy good quality UPS.
    b) If not UPS, buy a good quality voltage stabilizer.
    c) Use spike guard aided multiple sockets extender.
    d) Apply all necessary means that will result in good/clean power supply.

    bsnl.co.in/service/dataone_tariff.htm
see/click FAQ at bottom question No 45 I think.
    Reg rental modem/outright purchase etc.
Normally BSNL replaces faulty modem/adaptor within an year ( if purchase outright). rental basis no time limit . All depends on your staff./babus.
    Para two:
The Adaptor is cheap SMPS system , to accept vide input AC voltages.
You could buy a DC voltage adapter
    Input 220VAC/output 12V D.C 1amp .
Check thePOLARITY of the connecting jack.
Better models have IC 7812 or 7912 regulator built in. Connect this to any voltage stabiliser if you have, for the computer.
Check the power requirements for your modem/router.12volts AC also possible,
    My AXMt882 needs 12V AC.
