    Default ut300r2u alternate firmware.

    Hello, I just wanted to know if anyone has ever tried, successful or otherwise, to install an alternate firmware (like Tomato,DD-WRT etc) on their ut300r2u modem.

    @gurusam
    May get extra menu items like virtual servers/ddns/ client tr069, SNMP etc .
    If you are not careful, and if the FW is not compatible, you will have a "DUD: modem to be used as door stopper!
    If it is on rent from BSNL, try your luck to get a replacement !

    Para two:
    @manishk : Post Device status page of your modem. for
    BoardID. One model is same like Beetel220BX for which FW is available.
    In one older model PORT forwarding Virtual server option is not available.
    see the "How to....." forum here. Since you are mentioning "likeTomato DD-WRT etc ", I am sure, you can use alternate FW.successfully.

    @essbebe
    Mine is the one without the Virtual Server feature, only NAT-DMZ. I'm sorry, but did you post a link to the 'How To...' forum, because I can't see it.

    I haven't tried any of the firmwares yet, because, as you said I don't want a Rs.60 pm door stopper (mine's on rent).

    @superprash2003
    Not exactly. I find the current firmware very buggy, none of my settings get saved and stuff like that.

    One of the main reasons was that I read these firmwares have WakeOnLan feature, and since mine is the 500C plan, I thought I can save a few bucks on the electricity bill!! Plus they allow bandwidth monitoring. Basically, I was just inquisitive.

    Post Device Status page of the modem, to check the FW version.
    "WakeonLAN" is a separate application.
    Wait. let me check.

    @manishk

    Post screenshot of your modem's Device page.

    AT YOUR OWN RISK.
    Probably you can try BEETEL 220bx FW to
    get Advanced options lie virtual server/port forwarding
    etc.

    REF:http://www.indiabroadband.net/broadb...etting-up.html (UT300-R2U Ver 2.2 - Guide for setting up)

    Otherwise if you don't need them don't try UPGrade.

    See old threads in Airtel forum.

    What is special about BSNL BB connections at
    above places ? doe it mean the FW UPG ( if any in the cd manual)
    for any bsnl supplied modem will not work in Bangaluru and Hyderabad?
    Can you list the contents of the CD?

    Have you made a complaint to BSNL in Bangaluru?

    Update: Unable to download the CD as virus reported.

    Be specific:
    Are you taking about USb drivers for different modems/
    or
    Firmware update for different modems as provided by BSNL /
    According to you ONLY AT Bangaluru and
    Hyderabad they wont work ?
    Rest of India OK ?
    A farfetched unsubstantiated conclusion.
    Whether you connect in Bangaluru or Hyderabad the BSNL server is common for ALL INDIA users. .
    Location could be different.

    Para twO:
    One more misleading statement!
    ,driver(dailers) of mt88x series routers wont work in Bangalore
    Since when Huawei AX Mt88 series modems have driver(dialers) ?
    A dialer is used externally of the modem.

    Should i go to Bangaluru and Hyderabad to test your theory ? According to you something special in these places.
    which is not technically justified.
    you are free to hold on to your conclusions, and sheer waste of time discussing further.
    I surrender.
