Default 'ADSL' link is up but 'Internet' is down...

    Hi,
Switching on the router, 'ADSL' LED is up but 'Internet' LED is down. I am able to ping the router from my laptop.
Further, following are various connection test reports...

    Test the connection to LAN
    -----------------------------
    Wireless Connection PASS

Test the connection to DSL Service Provider
    -------------------------------------------
    ADSL Synchronization PASS
ATM OAM F5 Segment Ping PASS
ATM OAM F5 end-to-end Ping PASS

    Test the connection to ISP
    --------------------------------------
    PPP Server Connection FAIL
    Authentication with ISP PASS
    Assigned IP add FAIL
    Ping default gateway FAIL
Ping primary Domain Name Server PASS

    Please help....

i guess you'll not be able to ping any external IPs too... can you try that and also do ipconfig/all...

In WAN page you seem to have selected PPPoA.
    Uncheck and select ppp/PPPoE .
enter UserId without @ bsnl.in Password.
"check "always On' Idle time 0
SAVE and REboot. Wait for 2 or three minutes.
    check Diagnostics page again.
Some IP numbers will appear against last entries.
    OAMF5 will show fail.

If you are using a dialer/Wanminiport externally Select "Bridged"
    Save and reboot.
Still No go Post ipconfig/all details here.
Start RUN type cmd TYPE ipconfig/all

PS: After 48 posts you have failed to give proper thread title and mention your modem details.

As I am not able to connect to ISP, I can't.

My appreciation for the suggestions essbebe. Will try it out and will update.

Not to be arrogant (my apology if you'll feel so), I think 'ADSL' and 'Internet' link you can see in router and anyone can understand what I mean to say.
Anyway, will try to be more specific from next time.

Further, what I have posted is not 'modem details' but various connection test results, which help to pin point the problem.

it seems like PPP:LCP is down so better idea is to contact your ISP once and get the correct settings with usename and password.
looks like a problem with modem configuration only

    smoothvibes,
    Thanks for reply.

    Test the connection to ISP
    --------------------------------------
    Authentication with ISP PASS

Doesn't it mean that credentials are correct? I'm not sure. Anyway, I'll confirm the same.

ya its correct that it is passing CHAP but chek
    PPP Server Connection FAIL
and it is not assigning any IP so as per my knowledge there is a latency with server otherwise maybe a problem with credentials here.

    Thanks guys for help.
Today I went to BSNL Service Center. I have seen so many people complaining about the same. They told me that its a 'major breakdown' and it'll be corrected by today's evening.
Once back to home (after 4 hrs), I'm online again. :5:
