Thread: Siemens 2110 not accessible at 1962.168.1.1

I have got Siemens 2110 modem for my BSNL Broadband connection at my office. When It on an icon .Internet Gateway in group of ,Network Connections and a shortcut to it is created at Desktop.When click on it a small menu appear at desktop as, connecting .. connected...i can browse internet only after clicking on it and got connected. when browsed at 192.168.1.1 modem setting is found PPOE at 0/35. TCP:/Ip setting of Lan Card is .Automatically Obtained.

But the problem started when i tried to assign IP to Lan card as 192.168.1.10 and subnet mask 255.255.255.0 and Default gateway 192.168.1.1 then system asked to restart and after restart the Internet Gateway icon disappeared and shortcut to it is not working. now i am unable to browse to internet and unable to access modem when typed to 192.168.1.1. After that TCP/Ip setting of Lan Card again changed as ,Automatically Obtained and restarted the problem still exists. my OS is Win XP....

Please suggest me a solution

Please give reason for allotting fixed IP address 192.168.1.X
to one computer only.
( if it is changed in one, others also to be given IP.)
How many computers in use in the LAN now ?
You may have to disable DHCP in the modem.

only single computer is working at office.

Presume you want to have Dialer mode in your office, to prevent
unauthorised access to Internet.
You have to go to WAN page of the modem click edit

and change setting to
"BRIDGED" SAVE and reboot. Wait for 2 or three minutes.
Use the external dialer to connect.
IN dialer do not check "save password". UnchecK all users.
No changes in TCP/IP settings.

modem is set to PPOE but get connected only after clicking on shortcut 'Internet Gateway'... Hpw it works...?

create a static ip for your machine.. set it to 192.168.1.10 and then try accessing 192.168.1.1 ..i think you arent getting an ip
