@ghoshprannoy
yes.........download will be counted as free.....wen u reboot ur pc the connection is disconnected though modem is on....so you will have to connect again.....wen u connect again.....your time starts from 2.05 am............sync your clock with bsnl time from the portal........bcoz bsnl if u connect @1.59 and start download........it will not be free from 2.00 am.....the whole thing will cost you.........THIS IS WRONG BUT DIS IS HOW IT WORKS........
But my modem is always on mode meaning whenever my pc restarts it will be connected to internet. But I want to know if keeping my modem on whole night shutting down at 10 pm and restarting at 2 05 am will it be counted as free
i am getting very low speeds from file sharing networks like "Rapidshare","megaupload","you tube",etc..i.e like max of 10 KBps in the Night unlimited period i.e from 2 a.m to 8 a.m. but in the non free time the speeds are exceptionally high,of the sort of 130-150KBps.
When i called upon the bsnl guy, a pathetic answer from him "Since the usage is very high at that time,the speeds were low".Some thing ever expected from bsnl fools.
Please if any one found the same problem,and solved it.please say me how u have done it.

It depends on the amount of usage at that time in your area.... For me when i have night unlimited it was around 1.3-1.5mbps(i mean the speed and not the actual download rate).. My house is at a remote area and there arent many people who use PC at home... For my friend when he tried it was only around 300-400kbps(he is located in a much popular area compared to mine)... The only thing you can do is try to remove the attenuation as much as possible, it might give you 10-20kbps more but not more i guess....Also i have heard that if you use a repeater near your house it boosts the signal to max(i have never tried it so have no idea whether it will work or not)....
He means that the main power of the modem is always on.... Dont worry as long as you have bsnl(dont know about the others) you have dynamic ip(always changing), so if you restart you pc the ip will change(although on/off of the modem is more preferred)...
My broadband is like dial up(best suited for me even after having unlimited)...So every reconnection i make it gives me a new ip....
thats what i replied at first.....
@ghoshprannoy.
What ever you do, switch off modem at about 0155AM and at 0755, so that, your downloads are not charged. See "sticky" thread No 3 for an automatic scheduler.
SEE this also.
http://www.indiabroadband.net/bsnl-b...e-2am-8am.html (plzzzzz help...bsnl has charged me for free time usage(2am-8am))
