I have a DELL INSPIRON 1525 laptop. And i m using Broadband Dataone UL 750 Plan, for internet....

I have a BSNL provided modem, thats ZXDSL 531B which has both ethernet and wireless ...

Now i can connect thru my ethernet cable to internet well on win vista but wireless i cant connect, it detects the ZXDSL 531 B modem and shows 90% connection strentgh but i am unable to open any web pages or downloads .........
So my wireless modem is useless till now..

And how can i connect it on a LINUX platform KUBUNTU or UBUNTU ?
i cant connect both ethernet and wireless on LINUX platform.........


Please HELP ?

Your router must be configured in PPPoE mode. Also, you must enable DHCP on the router. Has this been done?

1.Do you keep the LAN connection to the Laptop,
when trying for WIFI access ?
2. Disconnect it and try.
or Check Status of wireless network.
Is it secured or unsecured ?
What is the message in Taskbar wireless icon ?
3"HANDS UP" for LINUX . sorry.
4. If needed will give link for settings for Zxdsl 531B.
Presume you have the installation CD.

My router is configured in pppoe mode but DHCD is not enabled can u give the DHCP settings ???

2. status is ok, not secured but 90 % above strength

Don't worry about linux i can help you to connect on linux

first of all get connected on windows then will look into linux

for vista first of all config wireless settings in your router and note down few basic things

• Network Name (SSID) {this should be alpha numeric for better connection}
• Channel Number (can use auto if available)
• Wireless Security Option WPA or WEP

for WPA please try to make Encryption key as alpha numeric
for WEP its better to go for 128bit encryption and make it alpha numeric like 0123456789ABCDEF0123456789 (for 128bit it should be 26digit and for 64bit it shoud be 13 digit)
