Default Question:BSNL Connection With Airtel's Modem

    Hi guyzz,
Thanks a lot for this forum seems like a heaven for Novice users like me. Just to add to your troubles i am asking a small basic question. I had an airtel's net connection for about 15 days or so but had to get it shifted to BSNL's for some reason (Reson must be obvious "Airtel Suckz") . Now i wish to know if there is any trouble in using Airtel's or rather BEETEL'S 110bx1 modem i got from airtel for my BSNL Connection.

No trouble at all. The modem will work with BSNL. The VPI/VCI values will be 0/35 respectively for BSNL.

Refer to the many guides here for setting up.

    Disable the 1/32 br_1_32 service.

Enable and configure the 0/35 br_0_35 service.

I assume that u are a perfect novice and u want to save rs 1200 by using airtel modem to run BSNL broadband.
Heres what u need to do.
    1) Take a ball point pen in ur right hand, and beetel 220 bx1 modem in left.
    2) at the back side of ur beetel modem u will see a small hole where "RST" is written (b/w the white colored white USB port and the ethernet port where u put ur long white colored cable that ends somewhere inside ur laptop or a desktop)
    3) yes u guessed it right... insert the tip of ur ball point pen inside that hole. u will feel a small tick sound when the button inside gets pressed. Now close ur eyes and sing ur favourite song for 10 secs while u keep pressing that button. (this will erase any existing airtel password, so make sure u dont need it any more... or kick ur ass if u need it later)
4)well we are half way through... now turn off ur modem for another 10 seconds.
    5) switch it on again and open IE (or firefox) and write 192.168.1.1 & press enter
    6) on the window that appears, write 'admin' in the 1st column and 'password' in the 2nd. Now press ok.
    7) the third option in the left hand side pane is 'WAN' open it. u'll see 2 services. First Service is 'pppoe_1_32' click 'edit' on 1st service. Click 'next'. again click 'next'
    8) now u'll see ppp username and ppp password. Fill this username and password columns by the details given to u by the BSNL ppl.
    9) Press 'next'>'next'>'save'
    10) Now in the 2nd service the 'protocol' is 'bridged' we need to change it to 'PPPoE'. so just press 'edit'>'next' now choose PPP over ethernet(PPPoE) (2nd option in list). hit 'next'. now fill username and password (though it should be automatically filled due to our previous steps where we filled the fresh BSNL username and password)
    11) press 'next'>'next'>'save'
    12) Now just press 'Save/Reboot' on the main page.
    13) wait for 2 minutes (NO less!)
    14) ur net shuld be working fine courtesy a la BSNL. Make sure you enjoy a chilled can of orange juice before u plug to surf
*if ur net is still not working make sure you have proper settings in network connections area. (for this refer to BSNL manual for broadband, or bribe an officer to make it work, and later lodge a complaint against him for corruption)
    * do send ur compliments if this works

    http://www.indiabroadband.net/bsnl-b...html#post75104 (utstarcom modem confi)

Beetel 220BX and Utstar 300R2U ( new model) identical.

If earlier you were on "Always On" mode , follow @Just4kix

OR you were using a DIALER ,
AND you had not made any changes in modem settings
Enter Bsnl UserId and PW in Dialer to connect .
