seems like an issue with BSNL. anyone please confirm same with BSNL Cust. Care and update. I can not call BSNL coz i live in Delhi and here its MTNL.
i will call 'em tomorrow. cant take no risk. i download/upload total ~4.5GB per night.
can u imagine how much they can charge me if they want.

October 2008 billed usage. Nov no usage. ( not mine ! )
Using FireFox browser.
"Warning" etc web site seems to be a malware. and a Private LAN address.
Change to OPENDNS and try. 208.67.220.220 and 208.67.222.222.
or Download FireFox or Opera or Google "Chrome" browser and check.

Question is : whether the portal is accessed normally or not ?.

no point in discussing the matter further.
Two major problems were being discussed in this thread. one is the appearence of a new warning log-in page, and the other is the freezing of
usage update page.
forget about the second one for now, lets discuss the first one..
1. my usage portal data.bsnl.in could always be accessed normally (if that is what was meant)
2. a banner was already being displayed at data.bsnl.in for some days, and the warning site also looked pretty real in function and in design. but that doesnt prove anything and i m not very sure myself.
3. all the people who suffered and posted here including myself had the experience only once. bsnl also says in their banner that it will alert and redirect upon reaching 1 gB limit.calculating all the facts it is quite safe to assume that "the checking portal will open only once a month after crossing 1GB".
i certainly didnt foretell our prime minister's marital future. Mine was a simple
statement, a rather small and safe deduction which certainly doesnt deserve any offending remarks.

On 31Oct08 when ever i log on to BSNL. I am getting redirected to a page asking me to enter my authentication details to continue. The page doesn't have a professional look. This continued for about 4 hrs and i was able to work normally after that. The strange thing happened next morning. Same page came again and i couldn't continue browsing. First of all, i haven't crossed 1gb limit and even after giving the correct user details, the page was getting timeout.
I contacted some of my friends working on BSNL and after 4 to 5 people one confirmed me that this is a valid page. Still i suspect this page since url of the logo displayed on left itself has some persons name.
If this page is from BSNL this is absolute rubbish simply because, i haven't crossed 1GB on my chargeable usage and if this is new feature then customer should have option to switch off this message or should have option to set the limit. This limit should apply only for the chargeable usage.

u r a home 500 user and u have downloaded more than 1gb including night usage !!!
also do check ur usage portal and see if it is working .

Mine is also Home 500 plan and I got the same error on 01st of Nov after downloading 1.5 GB data(morning 5 AM). Once I have tried to access the websites, I was getting the same error and was redirected to BSNL page where they prompt to enter the BSNL user/password (but uTorrent client was keep downloading the data.). I tried that and it was 'waiting for the response ' from 'http://172.30.83.134:8080/ssssportal.war/SSSS_Servlet'.
As I have shifted to new house that day, I was not able to get whether BB was working or not, as BSNL had to shift my BFone to new address. Today they have shifted the phone but still its not active.
Hope BB will work once I get connected.

we are tryin 2 upgrade the usage meter since many people are complaining bout geting 20,000 bill,so this is a new security feature 4 awareness...
den he took my bsnl id & pass 2 fixit... he saw d same page so it is legit,all u have to do is say i agree & reset ur modem....
oh ya... i did ask him how cud dat count as my 1GB limit since 2-8am is free hours.....
he said its false positive.......but d portal usage isn't workin yet so can't be 2 sure

Same problem happened with me on 1st of Nov at 4:30 AM... I am using BSNL since last 4 months and every month I have exceeded my limit handsomely... So, I was surprised to see this thing happening for 1st time... I got hint that this redirected page wasn't of BSNL cuz of the freaky address it was showing in the address bar... Like few people mentioned here... This address has "ssssportal.war" extension...
I knew for certain that it wasn't any virus/malware in windows... cuz when I connected to internet from my Linux installation... then also all the sites were redirecting to that suspicious page...
On the morning of 1st, 2nd and 3rd nov. I called BSNL... They told me that they have received many complaints like that... and its a server issue which will be sorted out soon... But finally my patience ran out today... and I decided to take the bull by its horn... I reset my modem and re-configured it with all the security measures I had before... And voila! It did the trick...
I guess it was hackers attempt to scare us on the Halloween night!And my usage portal hasn't updated after the 1st attack/incident...
btw, I was able to access only gmail from clickin on the link at Gtalk...

best is mine... i am not able to access bsnl data usage page... :lol: and guess what.. i dint got a single error mesage... :lol: .. everytime i try to check my account usage.. it gives page load error.. i wonder why... some problem ? or server must be updating or busy?![]()
one more thing... I was using OpenDNS... so it doesn't concern ur DNS settings...
yeah, as i suggested in my first post here, that weird portal trouble seems 2 disappear if i reboot both pc and modem. but the usage portal trouble remains.
anyway, good news is that i was able to connect to usage portal and saw that they have updated it( just a few minutes ago.)
sometimes that portal gives error msgs constantly and u cant log in to see usage. Strangely i have noticed that doing a spyware scan with WSS and getting rid of a few stupid cookies resolves the problem.
