Default What's your Rapidshare speed these days?

Since the past fifteen days, my RS speed has fallen like anything. During the morning free hours, I can get from 10 to 20 kbps, but during the daytime, I get much higher speeds, starting from 70-80 kbps, and reaching the full 220 kbps as well. But generally the speed stays below 150 kbps, and keeps wavering, i.e., it run for 100 kbps for five seconds, then pauses for a second or two, then drops to somewhere below 50 kbps, then pauses again, then picks up at a higher speed - this continues all through the download.

Has anyone else been affected as well. Mention your speed and the place where you live. I live G'nagar, Gujarat.

Oh I don't have a premium account; I download as a free user. Earlier I used to get above 200 kbps easily, now it has stopped.

You say you have 1.5 to 2 mbps - that's your download speed?

Yes, but what is your connection like. Is it a higher speed connection? On a Home 500, can a premium user get such high speeds, when the bandwidth is limited to 2 mbps?

It's a Business Plan. Used for business centers like Internet Cafe and offices or others that need Broadband connection in multiple computers with high speed. Check details here. Dataone Business Plan Tariff.
Rapidshare have a bandwidth cap of 32 KB or something for free users. If you have a premium account you wont have that limit. But you will still be limited to your connection speed (in Home 500 it's 256 KB max).

You won't get more speed than what the ISP (BSNL) offered no matter what you use. If you are not getting that speed you should contact them and ask for help.

Also when you are choosing mirrors in rapidshare go for Teleglobe (just Teleglobe) or GlobalCrossing (just GlobalCrossing). From my experiance they are the fastest mirrors.

I have home 500 and get poor speeds in rapidshare because I dont have rapidshare premium account. But seriously even with 2mbps speed + premium acc, downloading effectively 2AM - 8AM its difficult. I'm not nocturnal.

    The upload speed depends upon:

    - your maximum allowed upload rate by the ISP. In case of Home 500 plans, the maximum speed is 256 ~ 512 kbps (32 ~ 64 KB/s)
    - your torrent and other upload activity going on at that time - remember that bandwidth is shared by all internet activity.

So do not blame RS alone.
