Hello, friends,

We just received this morning a intimation email from BSNL CCare that we had exceeded our 1 GB limit in the month of October last month. (Period 01/10/2008 - 31/10/2008).

It's absolutely unacceptable since we frequently checks our usage and had found no sign of excess till the October end. Even today in so many times, we find it in tact, that our October month usage is only for 0.967 mb.

How come, we get an BSNL email notification of excess usage when bbservice.bsnl.in site shows our October month usage under 1 GB?!!!!

Please advise

the bsnl portal is full of flaws.. they have a lot of problems.. if you are sure you havent exceeded 1gb then dont worry.. just ignore the mail

Properties/Details/Message Source.
Confirm it is from BSNL.
I am using Bsnl BB for more than 18 months,
and till date Not even a single email
has been received from CC. as general circular.

Para two :If it appears not from official BSNL cc,
copy paste the Message source, , and xxxx
your email ID details. PM to me, or post it here
for taking it up with

None of my email has been replied by BSNL yet. I also tried writing to them 2-3 times on earlier occassions too, but without any use.

I'm in Kuwait, and the BSNL email was forwarded to me by my wife. So, getting the email properties seems impossible. It does not leave a copy as to access it through webmail, once opened.

Another issue that I noticed recently and would like to share with you is the rise found in bandwidth used. One hour use of Skype PC to PC earlier, I mean since we started using BB in Aug and Sep, consumed only 14-15 mb as per BSNL site. Meanwhile, last month and till date, our use of same skype voice for hour shows above 40 - 45 mb.

Also, some records of our skype used time period in BSNL site for this month shows variations in bandwidth usage. Surprisingly, even more mb for less time of skype use and vice versa.

Sorry to hear about your problems.
1.The mail supposed to be from BSNL could be a malware.
2.You can check the usage if you get the 14digit portal Id and password and check yourself, or post screenshots here, masking personal details.
3.I do not use SKYPE , but if the Audio codec selected is different
bandwidth usage could be more. Also during that time if, any automatic updates are taking place in the computer, it could be misleading.
Ensure all application not required are disabled ( shown in the task bar )..
TRY these program to check the download daily.

Please make ur point-wise clearer to me for below.

1- How can I identify the email to be a malware.
2- I always check the usage at bbservice.bsnl.in site, then, what is this 14 digit portal like, and where can I have this from?
3- where can find the Audio codec to select the desired one for skype?
4- Updates for Windows xp, Karspersky anti-virus, etc all are in off mode already, hence, no updates running while using net.
5- Tautology or Shahplus, which is better? These meters could be accurate in reading the net use in real time?. Do you think, using one could help us control our daily usage to some extend.

u will get it from ur BSNL office (the 14 digit portal id)

5) --------> its better to use the BSNL portal itself to check usage becaus the software itself might use the bandwidth (i think so)
