Default Why it takes so long????

    Hi BB users,

I have bought Nokia siemens C2110 modem with Home500 combo plan.

When i switch on the modem, it takes about 10-15 minutes to connect with my PC LAN. LEDs goes blinking during that time.

Is it normal time??? or there's something wrong??

    Thanks.

    Johnny.

I have the same modem and home500c plan. after i switch on the modem it takes 10sec to establish lan connection. then another 5-10sec for the LINK to become steady.
are all the wires connected in proper order???
u can check this easily from the cd they gave u.

wait for someone else to post before making a decisioin pal. sometimes bad wires cause these sort of problems too.

it should not take that much time to connect, please try to reinstall your lan drivers and please check if cables are connected properly or not and if possible then try to check that your modem is not in any electromegnatic interface. Seems like your modem takes long to warm up and it may be a problem with modem too

Yea it could be because of wire connection problem. My cousin has the same problem at his house. He has got parallel lines for same phone. when modem is connected through adsl splitter at one end link stablizes normally at the other end it takes 10-15 mins.

I think it should not be a DSL link problem coz he is facing problem with LAN and i assume modem training time is fine and there is no problem with modem training, only LAN is taking time to connect.

My modem connects in 10-15 seconds. Check line issues, SNR margin, line attenuation, etc.

Check carefully whether your modem needs a FW update.

Yesterday i messed up with the modem and loaded the factory default settings and unfortunately i didn't know how to configure the pppoe or bridged connection (now i know all about it) ..so today i called the guy from BSNL office and he configured it. :001_tongue:
I told him about the time taking problem of LAN but he didn't gave any proper answer:sneaky2: Sooooooo guys..:helpsmilie:

Nokia Siemens don't need a upgrade. Only Siemens modems require a upgrade.

...yep! it's placed on the top of my UPS..
but i think there's a problem with modem hardware coz it takes long time to warm up. After warming up the lan connects immedietely even if i switch the modem off and on.

I think i should replace the modem...Any more ideas???

    Thanks

    Johnny.

Ur problem is probably due to a faulty modem as u said urself but i just had another thought. my hunch is probably wrong but it doesnt hurt 2 check.

yes if modem is taking long time to warm up then it should be a problem with modem only, if you can then please try to replace your modem once

    Cool

    Problem solved guys....

The damn DC Adapter was faulty and bsnl guys refused to replace it.
They said the voltage has dropped so the modem is taking time to warm up.

So i took my spare nokia mobile charger and replaced its small pin with faulty adapter's slightly big pin. ..it worked coz voltage and amperes are almost same for both adapters

Now LAN connects in just 2 seconds

    Cheeeeeerrrrsss
