    Hi

Please update your modem/router details like name and model
you can go to wireless setting of your modem and can use WEP or WPA-PSK Security Encryption

and please check Broadband How to section

Wish you a wonderful stay at IBB

Yes. Please visit Broadband How to section and read the guides out there.

Wireless security configuration is very simple but most people are afraid to do it for unknown reasons.

Anyway you can test the security of your network here : Wi-Fi Security Test

i think wifi is the best option for home users as you can eleminate all the cables running here and there at home and near to your desktop and if you are using laptop to work thn its the best way to connect
Then only thing you need is proper and secured wireless network

Yes. but it has lots of security issues. And if not configured properly it can be a problem. Many people are afraid to take security measures (I dont know why). In fact my college friend has been using his neighbours wi fi. He found out the WPA key using some tools and tutorials (I'm not gonna talk about them) and he's using that his neighbours newtork to surf the internet.

I don't shave coz blade is something which is very sharp and can cut my neck if not used properly.
If one wants to use Wifi then he/she needs to be smart enough know

cracking WPA is usually very tough compared to WEP.. as mentioned above you cant avoid technology just because of a few risks.. you need to secure yourself and use it!!

    kavita

you really don't need any radius key or anything like that, just try this and i am sure it will help you

Go to Wireless settings options in your router config page
then change your Wireless Network Name (SSID) to anything alpha numeric (alphabets and numbers, like kavita123 or wireless110 or anything)

change channel number to auto or assign manual channel number 11

change MTU size to 1400 or 1452

change wireless security encryption to WPA-PSK Security Encryption and make it alpha-numeric and please mind this is the password for your wireless network so try to make it a strong one and keep it more thn 8 chracters

Hope it will help you, please try and update

I will say, leave the MTU/MRU setting to default - don't touch it.

MTU should be changed only if there are problems. 1492 is the highest possible value (actually it is 1500 with 8 bit added for CRC and other checks).

If you lower MTU unnecessarily, it will take more time for all downloads and uploads because maximum tranfer unit in one ATM frame is whatever you have specified.

yes i understand this but what do we need to do if any secure site is not happy with that MTU or is not coming up, which happens in most of the cases, i always prefer to use Maximum transmission unit as 1400 which works really good and provides good download speed without affecting QoS.

Also WPA supports password length of upto 63 characters, so if you want you can get random passwords of that length at GRC | Ultra High Security Password Generator
