Default Bandwidth back to normal, wonderful!!!!!

    Hi, guys,

Our PC got infected due to an expired Virus definition, and suddenly got flooded with viruses like trojans etc. We found our usage increased when compared to earlier months.

Removing Norton, we had Karsperky installed and run on our PC. When noticed increase in bandwidth and performance slow, we decided to scan PC after updating Karspersky. But, to our bad luck, Karspersky got blacklisted. As a result, we had to scan PC with this blacklisted stuff and found still lots of virus in C & D. Most of them, we got deleted or rectified.

Then, we got a freeware called Avira, got it installed and again we tried scanning the PC, but only a few of bugs found and deleted.

Then, this happened that Avira almost scanned everything till it got stuck in the process. Once at 60%, anoher at nearly 94%.

But, we are delighted to see our MB usage come down very very low to almost normal. We are using the net mostly for PC to PC on Skype and/or Yahoo. However, we have been using Yahoo voice chat only to be more cautious as Skype might still take a bit more MB because of P2P.

Your comments on the above are welcome. Please also advise on Avira.

    Best regards

    ahmk

I would advise to use Avast Antivirus and do a complete scan. Avast is the best antivirus from which I have tried.

BTW. You cannot delete the first post in a thread. If it have error, you can edit them as long as the Edit button is visible.

Yes, Avast Home Edition is freeware. And the updates too. Although you will need to register for free to activate the software (just a matter of giving email address). This is the download link. www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html. The best thing about Avast Home Edition is you can use it like a full version (no annoying pop-us or ads). The setup/installation file is 18 MB in size.
