Hello friends,

I m using 500c(night UL) and facing a prob while downloading with
RS(free).Such a low download speed.

can u tell me what speed u get from 2-8 am while using RS.

if RS offers such a worst speed for free users then what premium plan
u guys suggest(cost effective)?

and what i have to do to activate it?????

please help.........

with a good 500c link i get around 180 in RS(free). in torrent i get 220-230kBps.
if u got plenty of downloads to make, go for long-time plans.it will save money.
all the possible ways to create account r given lucidly in RS website itself..

RS speed depends upon servers too like from which server you are downloading and as per i know RS blocks speed for free downloads.

yeah, they definitely cap speed for free users.
and i also suspect that they disconnect free downloads if u try to download too much for free. since they do not support "resuming", it becomes a hell of a problem. thats y i quit using RS.

I think the maximum speed for free users is is 32 KBps. Also when you are choosing mirrors use GlobalCrossing or Teleglobe.

torrents buddy,
they rock. and if u really want to open an account somewhere ( thats means if u really want to pay somebody which they have no right to sell), try USENEXT.
biggest collection, highest speed. supports resuming and dl accl.

try foremost torrent search-engines like torrentz, pizzatorrent, nowtorrents, usniff etc.

and NEVER EVER TWEAK UTORRENT SETTINGS.
for speed improvement, download "EvID4226Patch223d-en" and increase max_half_open connections from default(win XP svc pack2) 10 to 50. go to utorrent settings and increase the same limit there from 8 to 48.
thats all u have to do buddy

Well the topic says Rapid share(Free).

My results :-
During 2AM-8AM, I get ~40 KBPS. 70 kBps only if i'm lucky

At other times I get about ~ 70 to 110 KBPS though not always.

Well i get around 30-50 kbps while using cryptload for free rs d/l s.

Speed is variable in rapidshare in the night unlimited(2.00-8.00) time normally i am getting 120-150 KBPS using IDM but sometimes it below 50 KBPS also but other time speed is 180-200 KBPS

Windows XP SP2 limits half-open connections to a maximum of 10. This is supposed to slow down certain worms because their spreading strategy is to try to connect to a high amount of random IP numbers.
This also affects utorrent because it lowers the number of outbound requests utorrent could have made per seconds to only 10(8 is the default value in utorrent).
So, all u have to do is to download the soft i mentioned and patch tcp/ip sys file with it. I changed max_half_open to 50 (from default 10). Now u gotta change the settings in utorrent so that it can utilize the change u made. open utorrent, go to options/preferences/advance and then change max_half_open to 48. it will show *48 but dont worry, because the * sign implies that the default value of 8 has been changed. U r now ready to download.

one more thing, restart ur pc after using that software( EvID4226Patch223d-en).

Will this method help with xp sp3 and vista sp1 or by default those os are fine ?

nope, the limit is still there in sp3 and vista.
u gotta change it manually, try "Vista TCP/IP and UAC AutoPatch 6.0" for vista.
google it and download it.they r very small and free.
if u liked my post, do remember to give some repo buddy.
another suggestion, always turn-off widows auto update.if some critical update is available, download and install them manually.

There is an application for free users called Rapidshare Plus. It was working fine when I tested yesterday.

i used the tcp/ip patch,it didnt made any difference for me

i get around 250 KBs during daytime

but around 800 kbps during happy hours
