Default USB powered modem

There is frequent power cuts at my place. At nights I need to connect to office n/w for important work. Without power modems dont work. I have already purchased BSNL modem (Rs 1.8 k), so I can't buy another one. Is it possible to somehow (using some adapter) to power the modem using laptop by connecting it as USB device ? Hope I am not asking impossible thing

I should have this before

hope understood my question.

You can use a car (or two Motor cycle 6V )battery,
suitably used for required DC power for the modem .
IC voltage regulator 7805 or 7809 may be required'
Connect direct if 12VDC at 1 Amp is required .
Observe polarity.
USB Port max 5V/500 ma each I think ,Not sure .

2 Ask Office to provide an UPS 1000 VA rating.
Cost about Rs 10,000 to Rs 12,000
You need room light also( USB port used?)
