this message comes up when your username/password don't get auth from server. The most possible causes:
    Username/Password is incorrect
Previous or last session still connected
    Tech issues at ISP's end

    Resolution
Check your Username/Password (check if you typin in correct case or not)
keep your modem/router off for few minutes and try again
call ISP for more help (which can not help)

It happens to me hundreds of time; this is just one of the problems. The one I am facing recently is where it stops responding while connecting at Connecting WAN miniport (or whatever the message is). Just try again in a few seconds.

    Default Invalid usr name/pwd

According to BB portal, due to overhaulling this may occur now. One line in marquee " Do not change password, it will take sometime to be changed".
    Suggestions:
    1. you can register a compln to your local circle. They will reset your pwd.
    2. give a detailed error code complnd to your local exchng's officer and ask him to reset your pwd.

Today since early morning 691 error is present although i type correct password but still this error is present so I could not able to log in last 5 hours
(5 hour continuously showing this error) then i thought some body change my password i try to contact BSNL help line but i can't able to contact also(every time line is busy) at last few min ago i can log in with same password.
I don't know why this is happening.Because other customer in this area are not facing this problem during that time according to local exchange(i contact with them one hour ago)

Please change your password. It might be some one has your password and if he uses bb with your details you wont be able to log in. And as you said you couldnt log in for 5 hours it might be someone was using your username & password. Also This occurs only if your dataone is not port binded (i.e. only your phone can log in others wont work). You should make an application to bsnl for port binding your connection.

from yesterday night(from 31/12/2008) to the morning of 01/01/2009 I also used to get 691 password invalid message. Afterwards I was able to log in. Mostly sch messages are due to some bug in the programmes used by BSNL or due to some error in their servers. I feel there is no necessity to change password.

May be you are right but as a customer I don't want take any chance because 691 error can be possible due to several reason and as a user i don't know what is the proper reason.

This problem can be happen both way either from the server which is happening recent time. But in general 691 error shows only if you type wrong password or your password has been changed or some body already log in that particular user id.

My friend does not have a port binded connection. We both know it. I was able to connect though his dataone details (ON HIS REQUEST). I told him that and he went to the exchange to complain. Their reply was, " All connections are automatically port binded."
He could not convince them that it was not.
