block the transfer if it exceeds specify limit per month say 1GB.
Means you cannot connect to Internet thereafter for that particualr month.
Would you like to be denied your email/chat etc for rest of the days ?

No BW meter is available, with this specs, to best of my knowledge.
However, you could monitor daily/usage with other BW meters,
and some keep a record for the full month.

1......sunish.net | - Thinkings of a tinker who thinks he's a thinker DQUF can be tried (this extracts usage data from BSNL site )

    2. ==- Readerror -== - Downloads
    Independent of BSNL usage portal.

    3. More choices Google search " bandwidth meters "

Check accuracy/dependability by checking at BSNL portal.

    Default USE this bandwidth meter.

    shaPlus Bandwidth Meter1.3.
you can search in google for the link to download
it calculate the total usage according to the billing cylcle we set.
but it doesn't restrict you when you cross the maximum usage.this thing you need to monitor yourself.

You can use Netmeter for that. It won't block your Internet access. But it will alert you if the download/upload reaches a preset limit. It will be more convenient than blocking Internet access.

You can try DU Meter provided you don't have night unlimited plan.

    Upon reaching the limit
    - display notification:50:
    - shutdown computer
    - close dial up or PPPoE dial up connections
    - send email

    Dis advantages :
    - Counts data d/l during night unlmited also.
    - Not free , commercial.

    @metibl
You have to check at BSNL Usage portal/s
with a 14digit portal ID and password to be
    obtained from your exchange .
( different to user Id and PW)

    BSNL - Broadband Account Management
    BSNL Portal

If you are an OLD Dataone user with IP 59.xx.xx.xx
    same userId and password.

how to see the usage details.
but nothing can detecting the my dell wifi adapter.
    1. The wifi adapter is connected to modem and then to ISP.

2.Even if many systems use the WIFI mode
different usage cannot be shown separately.

    3. Each system(computer) in WIFI or LAN mode ,
can have a Shaplus 1.2 meter
to show its usage in a window above Taskbar.
Try this, and kindly give feedback.

Now a days as soon as you cross bsnl broadband uses limit a pop-up screen appears asking you weather to continue. I have not seen this screen personally. Just herd about it from my friend as he had crossed the uses limit.

ShaPlus seems to be simple and practical solution for Indin broadband sage monitor. Achilus heal is it covers all kind wifi/LAN/WAN/PPPOE/PPTP....Bluetooth,Printer.. of nework in one try for configure. Ordinary user get find what to choose and what not. so segration of category wise and suggetion to choose right one for use is very much desirble. Other wise no use in having just reding never give right information.

You never know what you are measuring, needs to be more specific.

how many systems in use In LAN mode /and/or wifi mode.?
    Check application NetworX .
Usually user expects all d/l u/l to be measured and closely match Bsnl meter readings which is FINAL..

Check the adaptor in use. Make sure that multiple (unwanted) adapters as selected.

Right click Shaplus and select " Settings " > Select Network interfaces to monitor.

I always advise to use two meters Shaplus / NetworX/.
    Tautology Bandwidth meter.etc
keep which you are comfortable to setup and keep track of your usage. and compare later with BSNL readings for accuracy error.

It takes some time to get all settings correctly.
For instance someone wanted NetworX should not log NU.
by changing the color,of boxes(time and date )
    we could achieve that.
Are you watching Shaplus window above TaskBar always ?
and could conclude YM used 5 MB data.
Then download a picture of say 1 MB or an application of say 2 MB and check whether reading increases correctly.
