Thread: Not able to download from a tracker.

I have home 500 bsnl plan (Calcutta). For past 3 days one of the torrent trackers that I use is not working. I use utorrent and I get (offline)no connection error for that tracker. I'll post the name of the tracker if asked. Its a private invite based tracker so I'm not mentioning it cause people might turn this discussion to a invite thread. Also the error occurs ONLY FROM 2AM TO 8AM. Please note that my friend in Calcutta is also getting the same error. I've talked to the other members of the site and have reported the tracker to be working fine always and are unable to help.

What was the exact error message showed in utorrent ? The usual cause could be because the tracker is down. The other reason is because of a problem in the net connection. In most cases the error will be solved by itself after sometime.

The exact error was offline no connection.
It was definitely not because of tracker down or server load problem cause others were using the tracker at the same time without problem.
I found that out through IRC.

Did you tried any other Bittorrent clients ?

Halite bittorrent client is good. You can give it a try. If the problem is because of client, then you can use a different(older) version of utorrent.

I found a thread in utorrent forum based on similar problem. Will post my findings later. My exams are going on so not getting enough time to troubleshoot.

i aussme it goes dead beacause of heavy traffic or bad ip gatweays

lot of users including me ,having trouble to download during 2am to 8m as the speeds are low

i read in other forums that bsnl is assigning bad ip gatweays after during 2am to 8 am ,i dont know wether they r doing it inteionally or there is some serious flaw in bsnl servers

Problem solved. Problem was with utorrent 1.8.1. I degraded to 1.7.7 (a little hard to find though). Now its working fine. Also Vuze 4.0.0.x works fine but I'm stuck with utorrent because its extremely light weight software.

Looks like Archer was right, it was a problem with the client.

Halite is a light weight client. But it's still under development.
